Wondrous Words Wednesday

November 1, 2017

Wondrous Words Wednesday is a weekly meme where you can share new words that you’ve encountered or spotlight words you love.  Feel free to get creative!   If you want to play along, grab the button, write a post, and come back and add your link to Mr. Linky!

This week’s first word came from ME AND MARVIN GARDENS by Amy Sarig King.

1. peccary – “From what I remembered seeing, the closest hoof I could find was a peccary and that made no sense because we didn’t have peccaries in Pennsylvania.”

A peccary is also called a javelin or javelina and is a piglike mammal found in the southern deserts of the US south to Patagonian South America.

I discovered another word in THE CONFUSION OF LANGUAGES by Siobhan Fallon.

2. clowder – “When I asked Margaret about it, she said she’d seen this woman kick a “clowder” near the building’s Dumpster.”

A clowder is a group of cats.

What words do you want to celebrate today?

Javelinas are my favorite! They are so cute, but pretty stinky.
