I found these words in IN PAIN by Travis Rieder.
1. akratic – “On this sort of view, we can make sense of what it means to be weak-willed — or as philosophers like to say, “akratic” (from the Greek akrasia, for “weakness of will”); sometimes, it turns out, my work loses out to Netflix.”
Rieder actually defines akratic but it was new to me so I looked it up to see if there was more to the definition. Akratic means characterized by weakness of will resulting in action against one’s better judgment.

2. analogue – “But, of course, heroin is much more dangerous, as it is increasingly laced with the superpotent drugs fentanyl and its analogues.”
I knew one definition of analogue – relating to or using signals or information represented by a continuously variable physical quantity – but that didn’t fit here, so I looked it up. It turns out analogue can also be a noun that means a person or thing seen as comparable to another.

Didn’t know about this use of analogue.
1 out of 2. I’ll take it!

I wonder if akratic can apply to eating what you are not supposed to eat!
There are far too many words in this world. I need to get more wordy!
I’m keeping a list of my favorite words that I’ve run across in the last ten years. I intend to post them soon.
New to me 🙂
Interesting — akratic is a new one for me. I’m definitely guilty of that sort of behavior a lot of the time. Now I know what to call it!
I didn’t know the second meaning of analogue. Akratic is a good, new-to-me word.
Interesting use of the world analogue. I had no idea!
