Giveaway: Backseat Saints
It’s no surprise that I loved Backseat Saints when I read it last year (my review) – after all, Joshilyn Jackson is one of my favorite authors. She just has a way with words that captures the feel of the South so perfectly. To celebrate the paperback release of this wonderful novel, Hachette is allowing me to give away copies to five lucky readers. Here’s how they describe the book:
Rose Mae Lolley’s mother disappeared when she was eight, leaving Rose with a heap of old novels and a taste for dangerous men. Now, as demure Mrs. Ro Grandee, she’s living the very life her mother abandoned. She’s all but forgotten the girl she used to be-teenaged spitfire, Alabama heartbreaker, and a crack shot with a pistol-until an airport gypsy warns Rose it’s time to find her way back to that brave, tough girl . . . or else. Armed with only her wit, her pawpy’s ancient .45, and her dog Fat Gretel, Rose Mae hightails it out of Texas, running from a man who will never let her go, on a mission to find the mother who did.
Starring a minor character from Jackson’s bestselling gods in Alabama, BACKSEAT SAINTS will dazzle readers with its stunning portrayal of the measures a mother will take to right the wrongs she’s created, and how far a daughter will travel to satisfy the demands of forgiveness.
To enter to win one of five copies of BACKSEAT SAINTS by Joshilyn Jackson, simply fill out this entry form. Contest is open to US and Canadian residents (no PO boxes, please). I will use random.org to determine the winner. Contest ends at midnight EST Friday, April 22, 2011. The winner will be announced on Saturday, April 23, 2011. Comments are welcome (and appreciated) but will not get you an entry in the contest.

I’ve had this on my TBR for a long time! Thanks for the chance to win!
I loved this one too! I also read Gods in Alabama and am waiting to get my hands on a copy of another – I think it is called Between Georgia (?).
I love the cover with the dog at the back seat! (not an entry!)
Thank you for hosting this, Kathy. I will post your giveaway in my blog’s sidebar.
I liked this story a lot! I still have one more book of hers to try.
I would like to read this one. I hope her dog, so cute, will help her get away from that guy. I think it’s always tough to have been abandoned by your mom. Who can imagine what that must feel like? I’m sure it’s haunting for the rest of life.
No need to enter me because I’m finding all of her audio books and swallowing them whole! I just wanted to throw in a little hurray because I love her so. Next up: The Girl Who Stopped Swimming. Then I think I will be out of audios to listen to.
What a great giveaway, Kathy! Thanks for hosting it!
Jackson’s writing is so much fun and so very, very true and real!!! I’ve read 3 of her books, including this one, and my book club is reading Between, Georgia in July (I think). Can’t Wait!!
This sounds great. Cool contest.
Btw, thank you so much for your kinds words and concern
*hugs*
I would love to win this for my sisters. I really enjoyed the audiobook, but they still only do print. I raved to them about this one, though, so if I win, I’ll pass it around to all of them.
Thanks for the chance!
Any book with a dog in the story is a book I want to read. It sounds like a fun read.
good luck to all who enter, I loved this book.
‘Gods in Alabama’ was a 5 star read for me, so I’m not really sure how it happened that I haven’t read any other novels by this author, but given that this title is considered a companion story I’m certainly interested to read it (despite being a little leery of the abusive subject matter). Rose May was certainly a memorable character in GIA, and I’d love to get to know her better.
Someone posted a link to a post on the author’s website some time ago, and it was one of the funniest things I’ve ever read. There was an underlying thread of humor in GIA also which I think was what made it easier for me to get through the difficult bits in that story. I’ve copied a bunch of one-liners the aunt shot off into my quote collection, they were so entertaining.
Not entering but wanted to wish good luck to everyone
Since this os on my wish list I’d better enter my hat into the winners ring
I don’t need to enter because I listened to this already but I have to say I like this cover better than the one I had…where she is in red and holding a braid.
I don’t enter a lot of contests these day- I don’t have time to read what I already have!- but I loved gods in Alabama and would love to own this one to go with it.
(Ok, I still enter fabric giveaways like there is no tomorrow. I never win them, but I enter!)
I have an audiobook copy of this … I think I’ll pull it off the shelves and listen soon!
Thanks for the great giveaway!!
