Wondrous Words Wednesday

March 27, 2019

Wondrous Words Wednesday is a weekly meme where you can share new words that you’ve encountered or spotlight words you love.  Feel free to get creative!   If you want to play along, grab the button, write a post and come back and add your link to Mr. Linky!

I found a new-to-me term in PARKLAND by Dave Cullen.  Those more familiar with Latin probably know it’s meaning

1. sui generis – “That ‘We Call BS’ speech seemed sui generis.”

Sui generis means in a class by itself, unique.

Sui generis is an amazingly useful term! My words today are all food terms from the cuisine of India, out of a detective novel set in Bombay:

Couldn’t define it. But at least had heard of it!

New to me – and I took Latin in HS (but, in my defense, that was a long time ago) 😀

I took Latin and I still had a hard time with that one. Like Mary, that was a very long time ago!
