This week’s word comes from a middle grade book – DOG DAYS OF HISTORY by Sarah Albee.
1. neoteny – “This adorableness trait is known as neoteny, which is a fancy word for keeping youthful features.”
I know it was explained in the text of the book but decided to look up neoteny here since it was new to me. It means the retention of juvenile features in the adult animal, which is something I wish I had.

What words do you want to celebrate today?
Me too!
I’ve never heard or read this word before!
My picture will NOT be in the dictionary next to this word.
I wish I had some of my youthful features back, but to all of them. I’ve lived a nice long life and I’m proud of my battle scars. However, I would take a dose of youthful energy, if that were possible.
Your word’s new to me! (Baby face, you’ve got the cutest little baby face…)
That is certainly new
I kind of want that quality, too.
Me too!
I never would have known the word but the neo should have a clue to me!
