We Remember
April 16, 2018
Eleven years ago today, a gunman opened fire on the campus of Virginia Tech, killing 32 people and forever changing countless others. I’ve shed many tears as I’ve recalled this day through the years – our son was a student at Tech at the time and I will never forget the fear I felt that day. It’s a fear I wish no other person has to feel. I can’t understand why we can’t find a solution to these heartbreaking shootings. Lest we forget, the 32 who lost their lives that day are:

Sad but it continues.
I always appreciate you keeping this tragedy in our hearts and minds, Kathy. We should never forget.
We must always remember these senseless tragedies and the innocent lives snuffed out. I wish that we, as a country, would unify to solve this issue. Just heartbreaking.
It’s incredibly sad. Our daughter and son-in-law were in Nice during that attack. And I clearly remember the few hours it took to get a hold of her. But that sure beats the alternative for the families of these 32 people.
Hard to believe it has been eleven years and we have made so little progress on this issue. A sad reminder…
We should have solved this huge problem by now! I get very frustrated whenever I think about the losses…
Too close for comfort when your child is attending that school!
Thanks for sharing.
It is heartbreaking. Thank you for this remembrance.
Eleven years ago. Hard to believe this much time has passed and we are STILL seeing shootings in the headlines today.
And still it continues, heartbreaking
It’s always a shock and I always pray it won’t happen again…
It’s still difficult.
I love the you keep their memory alive with these posts.
I have chills up and down my arms reading your post. I am so glad your son was safe that day. It seems we, as a nation, cannot figure out what to do, which breaks my heart.
It was a sad day and one we should not forget.
I didn’t realize your son was there at the time; how frightening! Thanks for sharing. I forgot that Virginia Tech happened (calendar-wise) the same week as Columbine.

I wish that this would end. Why don’t we have a solution. I hope teens today can push politicians to listen.
These kind of tragedies are my worst fear. Twice this has happened in Montreal and the fear is palpable.
It always takes my breath away when I think about how many people lost their lives and how many families will be forever destroyed.
I’m late, but I do always appreciate that you do this every year. No excuse for nothing being done 😦
