Review: Behind Closed Doors
Grace and Jack appear to have the perfect marriage. They’re beautiful, live in a gorgeous home, and seem to adore each other. Jack is a successful lawyer who represents battered women and Grace stays at home and attends to things on the home front. Things aren’t always as they appear, though – there’s something dark and disturbing beneath the surface of their glamorous life.
I don’t want to say too much more about the plot of BEHIND CLOSED DOORS by B. A. Paris for fear of giving something away. This is one of those books that I think it’s best to go in with little knowledge of the plot. This book is so compelling I didn’t want to set it down once I started it and actually gulped it all down in one day – something I haven’t done in a long time.
BEHIND CLOSED DOORS is fast-paced, gripping, and scary. Not scary in a horror sense but scary because it all felt so plausible to me. (Although some of the characters’ actions did horrify me.) I loved this book and suspect it will make my list of favorites for the year. I wanted to find someone to talk to about this book when I was finished so I think it would make a great book club pick. If you enjoy mysteries and/or thrillers, you won’t want to miss BEHIND CLOSED DOORS.

Still, I’m getting kind of tired of all these sort of Gone Girl take-offs.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about this one, so I’ll definitely keep it in mind!
Les was just telling me how much she’s enjoying this, too. Sounds like a must read… or maybe listen!
I’ve only got a couple of chapters left and I actually had to stop listening on my drive home last night because I found I was holding my breath. I haven’t read something so intense as this thriller in a long time! It’s very, very good. I liked Gone Girl and Girl on the Train, but this is far better, in my opinion. It’s also currently 50% off in hard cover at Barnes & Noble, although I think the audio is outstanding. I doubt I would be as frightened if I were reading the words rather than hearing them.
I liked this one a lot too!! Totally creepy to me!
I wanted to like this one, but found it to be too predictable. Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Sounds compelling. I don’t know the author.
Kathy, it sounds like a book you truly couldn’t put down–I should pick up a copy! Terrific review!
I loved this book, too, and I couldn’t put it down once I started. Thanks for sharing.
This was a lot of fun to read. I felt like it could happen which made it a real sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat kind of read. From the cover and author’s name I thought it was going to be some erotic tale. I’m not sure why I finally picked it up but I am glad I did.
One of my good friends loved this book and she isn’t a big psychological thriller fan. I have this on my TBR list.
I don’t read a lot of psychological thrillers but it was sent to me so I read it – I liked it! Would definitely read more from this author.
Oh my! I need to read this asap!
This is going on my TBR asap!
I have this on my list to look for, but now I really want to get it sooner than later, thanks!
I agree. This is a book you want to talk about with someone. I would definitely recommend it for book clubs.
Sandy LOVED this one and I do think I’ll get to it eventually. Lately fast-paced is the only thing that works for me.
You had me at “gulped it all down in one day.” Sold! Love thrillers like this and this sounds fantastic.
I’ve heard nothing but raves about this one and hope to read it soon!
This sounds like my kind of story. Now I must read it.
I think I’ll enjoy this one too!
I read it too, Kathy, and was on the edge of my seat with tension.
I HATED Jack.
Nice review.
