Review: Mariella Mystery Investigates The Spaghetti Yeti

April 22, 2016

The Spaghetti Yeti

When Mariella goes camping with her family and her two closest friends (the other members of the Mystery Girls) the campsite they’re staying at is terrorized by a spaghetti eating Yeti.  People are scared and are leaving the campground and the local government is threatening to close it down.  The Mystery Girls spring into action to solve this conundrum.

Mariella Mystery Investigates The Spaghetti Yeti by Kate Pankhurst is another solid addition to the Mariella Mysteries series.  Mariella and her friends use a handbook for young super sleuths to help them solve the mystery in a safe, orderly fashion.  I was able to figure the mystery out very early but I’m sure it will be more of a challenge for young readers.  I thought the book was fun and exciting and felt Pankhurst did a good job setting out clues for the mystery.  There is some tension in the book but it’s not too scary for young readers.  The adorable illustrations enhance the book and will help keep reluctant readers interested.  Be sure to pick this book up for young mystery lovers!

I’ve never heard of this series. Is it appropriate for my 7-year old granddaughter?

I miss these adorable early chapter books that my daughter used to read. This looks adorable and one that will keep them turning the pages! Fun!

I am always looking for new MG novels to read to help me develop the appropriate voice for that audience. This sounds like a GREAT series to add to my TBR list.
