We Remember
April 16, 2016
It’s been nine years since a gunman opened fire on Virginia Tech’s beautiful campus, killing thirty-two students and faculty members before turning the gun on himself. As painful as the memory is, I think it’s important that we always remember those who lost their lives that day. I hope and pray that we find a way to end tragedies like this. Lest we forget, the 32 who lost their lives that day are:
- Ross Abdallah Alameddine
- Christopher James Bishop
- Brian Roy Bluhm
- Ryan Christopher Clark
- Austin Michelle Cloyd
- Jocelyne Couture-Nowak
- Kevin P. Granata
- Matthew Gregory Gwaltney
- Caitlin Millar Hammaren
- Jeremy Michael Herbstritt
- Rachael Elizabeth Hill
- Emily Jane Hilscher
- Jarrett Lee Lane
- Matthew Joseph La Porte
- Henry J. Lee
- Liviu Librescu
- G.V. Loganathan
- Partahi Mamora Halomoan Lumbantoruan
- Lauren Ashley McCain
- Daniel Patrick O’Neil
- Juan Ramon Ortiz-Ortiz
- Minal Hiralal Panchal
- Daniel Alejandro Perez
- Erin Nicole Peterson
- Michael Steven Pohle, Jr.
- Julia Kathleen Pryde
- Mary Karen Read
- Reema Joseph Samaha
- Waleed Mohamed Shaalan
- Leslie Geraldine Sherman
- Maxine Shelly Turner
- Nicole Regina White

Such a horrible day! I didn’t realize it has been nine years. It is important to remember but I’m glad you don’t name the person responsible. The anniversary of the Marathon bombings was yesterday, and there are remembrances each year in Massachusetts at marathon time.
Hard to believe that was 9 years ago all ready! Such a tragedy!
It is easy enough to forget these things. Thanks for reminding us.
Wow, nine years already! And the violence hasn’t seemed to lessen since then, either. When will it end? I, too, hope we remember….and find a way to stop the violence. Thanks for sharing.
So sad! And thanks to you, those who lost their lives that day will be remembered.
It is so awesome that you do this every year. I still remember watching this…in horror.
Hard to believe it’s been 9 years. So sad…
Not an easy day for all those families involved. Thanks for the reminder, Kathy.

I’m so glad you do this every year. It’s important to remember.
Oh it was a horrific day. What a terrible loss of all these innocent people. I mourn them
Wow — nine years and still so tragic.
