Review: The Third Wife

January 14, 2016

The Third Wife

Adrian is a lucky man.  He’s married for the third time and he and his wife Maya consider his ex-wives and children a part of their extended family.  Adrian’s happy and assumes everyone else is but after Maya dies he gets a troubling email that makes him wonder what he was missing.

The Third Wife by Lisa Jewell is a fascinating character study that I couldn’t put down.  On the surface, Adrian and his family seemed to have it all.  Everyone got along and they appeared to be one big, happy family.  Everything revolved around Adrian and he thought that pleased the rest of his family as much as it did him.   A mysterious email and a visit from a stranger after Maya’s death makes him question everything he knows so he decides to investigate her death.

I thought The Third Wife was wonderful.  Full of rich, deep characters, it was part family drama and part mystery.  I wondered if this family could be as good as they seemed and I had to know what happened to Maya so I turned the pages as fast as I could.  Be sure to pick up this gripping story!

I have a copy of this on my Kindle. Picked it up last year after reading someone’s review – can’t remember which person recommended it. Anyway, I love the sentence you mentioned…’Everything revolved around Adrian and he thought that pleased the rest of his family as much as it did him.’ So, really? Definitely need to read this. LOL

I loved this one, too….a nice mix of mystery and family dysfunction. And yes, Adrian was a bit clueless, wasn’t he?
