Review: Too Many Toys!

December 11, 2015

Too Many Toys

Lulu has had her teddy bear, Jupiter, ever since she was a baby.  Through the years, she’s been given more and more toys but Jupiter remains her favorite.  When Lulu is five, she realizes she has too many toys and comes up with a plan to get rid of them.  She piles up all of her toys, except Jupiter, and invites her friends to take what they want.  She realizes that Jupiter was the only toy she really needs but, with all the other toys gone, maybe there’s room for some new ones.

Too Many Toys! by Heidi Deedman is a cute book about having too much stuff.  Lulu is overwhelmed with gifts every birthday and Christmas and can’t possibly play with all the toys she has.  When she realizes it she comes up with a plan to get rid of some of her toys.  I do wish she would have donated them to charity or to someone less fortunate but those are certainly lessons parents can discuss with their children when they read this book.

Heidi Deedman wrote and illustrated Too Many Toys!  The illustrations are adorable and enhance the story.  Children will have fun looking through all the toys pictured.  This book is worth sharing with the little ones in your life.

I agree with you – what happened to charity or a children’s hospital?

I agree with you. We donate to charity or pass on our toys to other children. But we also spoke to family members about giving gifts that are not toys, such as tickets to a fun kid’s event.

My two youngest grandchildren have way way way too many toys. They do go through them every so often though. Sounds like a cute book.

We give Mouse’s toys to her school, and that has worked well for us and for the school. This sounds like a cute book.

Yes, charity or some other more meaningful donation would have been good. Still, the basic lessons are good.

Does any part of the storyline deal with the girl wanting one of her toys back afterwards? or feeling bad when she sees a friend playing with it? My kids have had to deal with that!

Kathy, I also agree with you (and others) about donating some of the toys. But the book sounds cute and fun, otherwise.

We pass toys and clothes on to her younger cousins. But those that don’t go end up at the charity place.

We could use a book like that in our house called TOO MANY BOOKS!

oh man, so we need this book! Even with keeping a bag or box for charity always at our disposal it is hard not to get too much for a kid! Especially at Chrisrtmastime.
