Review: Sharing the Bread

Sharing the Bread

There are lots of great Christmas books for kids but very few for other holidays so I was extremely happy to receive a copy of Sharing the Bread: An Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving Story by Pat Zietlow Miller.  This is a wonderful book to share with your whole family.

Sharing the Bread is the story of a family working together to create their Thanksgiving feast.  Everyone has a job so the family can come together to give thanks for their blessings.  The story is written in verse with some repetitions that are sure to please the youngest members of the family.  Jill McElmurry‘s illustrations are fabulous and help give the book an old-fashioned feel.  I was charmed by this book and wish it’d been around when Vance was young.  Be sure to pick up a copy of this fantastic book – you’ll want it to become a part of your family’s Thanksgiving traditions.

I love that you reviewed this book. You’re right, there aren’t enough books about Thanksgiving. For adults or children.

Oh, I have been seeing several wonderful children’s books this morning, and I love the idea of a book centered around Thanksgiving, an often overlooked holiday…and my favorite.
