Review: Counting Crows

March 13, 2015

Counting Crows

Counting Crows by Kathi Appelt is an adorable picture book about counting.  It’s written in sing-song verse that will appeal to youngsters and tells the story of twelve hungry crows out looking for food until a cat comes along and they all fly away.  Youngsters will enjoy counting the crows and the food they find and they will delight in the darling black, white, and red illustrations by Rob Dunlavey.  The dust jacket is textured for added appeal.

In case you can’t tell, I think Counting Crows is a wonderful book for the pre-school set.  They will love the verse and the illustrations and learn a thing or two along the way!

I never liked crows much. I think it was because of Spy vs. Spy in Mad Magazine!

This sounds like a lovely read! It’s the sort of book Dylan would have loved when he was younger, I think.

This sounds like such a fun book! I have been studying up on what fascinating birds crows are–and just how smart they are. I think this would be a fun one for my daughter.
