Mailbox Monday October 20

Welcome to Mailbox Monday, a meme started by Marcia of To Be Continued, and now hosted on its own blog.   Another week has flown by but it was a big week for me – I actually finished more books than I received!  Here are the books that showed up in my mailbox:

Yay! It’s always a feeling of achievement, isn’t it?
I am intrigued by the title of The Martini Shot…

I love seeing what others receive! I think I have read George Pelecanos before, I need to look that up 🙂

It is funny that you finished more books than you received. I thought this was a slim pile for you, but both books look good.

Slim pile this week, but hurray for keeping ahead of the stack… quite an accomplishment!

  5. October 20, 2014 9:02 am

I am curious about The Martini Shot…I read another book by this author, The Turnaround, that had me glued to the pages. Thanks for sharing…and enjoy your week. And thanks for visiting my blog.

Finishing more books than I receive/buy is a rare occurrence for me. It’s one I strive for every week, but I just can’t seem to stop accumulating more books 🙂

It’s so good to finish more than you receive…I just received a ton of Lisa Scottoline books… Thank you so much!

My 1st Pelecanos was The Turnaround, and I really liked it a lot. I also read The Cut, the 1st in his detective series, and thought that was okay. I might have read one other, too. I’m not sure what happened, but after reading The Cut, I was kind of done.

I’m My Own Dog, what a cute title!!

  12. October 20, 2014 11:30 am

I may have to check out “I’m My Own Dog”. Sounds like a fun one!

    Hi Kathy,

You couldn’t have wished for two more diverse books in the same mailbox!

‘I’m My Own Dog’ may not be a book I would need to buy, as I have no children in that age group as suitable recipients. However I checked out David’s site and was completely enthralled with the fantastic art work he has produced for his series of childrens stories. Why is it that some people are so talented, when I have trouble drawing something as basic as a tree?

I have never read any George Pelecanos books, although I am certain that I have seen one of his titles on my shelves somewhere. Judging by the fact that I can’t remember which of my triple stacked bookcases it could be in, I am guessing that it must be one of his very first books! Perhaps I should find this one out and give it a try, before investing in any more of his work!

Enjoy both your new reads and have a good week,

    Yvonne

I have to respond to Yvonne’s comment about drawing. A few years ago, I was playing Pictionary with my wife and another couple. He and I were one drawing away from winning. All I had to do was draw a rifle! I couldn’t do it. Total humiliation.

  14. October 20, 2014 1:34 pm

    I hope you enjoy them.

  15. October 20, 2014 2:10 pm

Happy reading! I hope you enjoy those 🙂

  16. October 20, 2014 3:29 pm

I enjoy Pelecanos writing and so am curious about The Martini Shot.

  17. October 20, 2014 3:44 pm

They both sound good to me, enjoy!

  18. October 20, 2014 3:44 pm

    Enjoy 🙂

  19. October 20, 2014 4:09 pm

I haven’t read a book by Pelecanos in a long time! The children’s book looks adorable!

  20. October 20, 2014 4:23 pm

Haven’t read Pelecanos myself for years. My reading this week was a bit erratic.

  21. October 20, 2014 5:32 pm

I need to look at Pelecanos. Enjoy!

  22. October 20, 2014 10:03 pm

I like George Pelecanos Spero Lucas series.

  23. October 21, 2014 1:16 am

  24. October 21, 2014 5:15 am

That dog book looks like a good one for my kiddo!

  25. October 21, 2014 8:11 am

I think my nephew and niece would love “I Am My Own Dog” – they aren’t allowed to get a dog yet and make do with Prince in the meantime! Have a good week!

  26. October 21, 2014 7:28 pm

These are new to me. Enjoy!

  27. October 22, 2014 12:10 am

The Martini Shot looks as if it will be good.

ENJOY, and I hope you are enjoying your reading week. I am late in visiting this week.
