We Remember

Virginia Tech April 16 memorial

It’s been seven years since a gunman opened fire on Virginia Tech’s beautiful campus, killing thirty-two students and faculty members before turning the gun on himself.  As painful as the memory is, I think it’s important that we always remember those who lost their lives that day.  I hope and pray that we find a way to end tragedies like this.  Lest we forget, the 32 who lost their lives that day are:

I’m so glad you do this every year. We should never forget these senseless acts until something is done to correct our gun control laws.

Working on a university campus and experiencing MANY active shooter drills and some real threats, I get the chills every time I think about that day. I often go through my mind to review what I’d do in that situation. I am in a high profile building and my office has one exit. There have been times when a man with a gun has been spotted on our floor and I tell ya, it’s the luck of the draw as far as what side of the building he is on. It’s scary but at the same time, we all learned so much from that horrible day and the tragedies that it that followed.
