Gone Reading

November 5, 2013

As the holidays approach most people will be looking for unique yet meaningful gifts – if there are any readers in your life, Gone Reading is the perfect place to shop for them!  Not only does this site sell wonderful products and offer fantastic service, they do it all with a philanthropic mission in mind.  Their Founder and CEO says:

If you’re like me, you just can’t imagine living in a world without reading. Unfortunately, for almost a billion people today, that’s exactly where they find themselves. There are countless villages, towns and vast regions of this planet where the power of reading has yet to shine its light.

Gone Reading International, LLC was founded to counter these problems and spread the magic of reading.  We believe that when people have open access to great reading materials, life always changes for the better.  When libraries and reading materials are made available, people and their communities thrive through increased opportunity and self-empowerment.

That’s why Gone Reading International has pledged 100% of our after-tax profits to provide new funding for reading-related charities.  By purchasing GoneReading brand gifts and merchandise, you’re treating yourself and the world at large to a wonderful gift.  All purchases from GoneReading help contribute to our philanthropic work.

We donate to great non-profits such as READ GlobalEthiopia Reads and BiblioWorks, amazing organizations with proven models, long track records, and dedicated teams on the ground.  Such groups partner with local villages and communities in the most underdeveloped parts of the world to create new libraries that effect real change.

You read that right, 100% of the profits go to reading related charities.  To make it even better, Gone Reading sells products you’ll want to own.  They recently allowed me to select a few items to review and I was impressed with the variety and quality of products they sell.  I selected “The Reading Woman” engagement calendar and the Mark Twain Library travel candle and I’m very pleased with both products.

engagement calendarNot only does the 6 by 8.25 inch calendar feature twenty gorgeous pictures of women reading, it has weekly pages as well as a month in review page for each month. There are pages for notes in the back and international holidays are listed.  I love the fact that it’s spiral bound so it lays flat.  This is the perfect calendar for all the busy readers in your life.

candleThe Mark Twain Library candle comes in 4.25 by 1.75 inch hinged tin so it’s perfect for travel or a small space.  It’s made of soy wax by Paddywax and smells wonderful.  In case you’re wondering, the Mark Twain library scent is tobacco flower and vanilla – a scent both women and men will enjoy.

Shortly after I selected my items, I received an email letting me know they’d shipped.  They arrived a few days later via Priority Mail in perfect condition.  My experience with Gone Reading was fabulous from beginning to end and I can recommend this wonderful website with confidence.  Be sure to check it out!

Thanks for telling us about this website. There are so many nice things there but, the first thing I have to have are those book-shaped plates. Very clever, and perfect for book-aholics.
