Saturday Snapshot

October 5, 2013

On the one hand, I hate that someone wrote on the front of this postcard, and, on the other, I’m glad to know the identity of two of the people.  The man with the 1 by his head is my maternal grandfather and the man with the 2 is his brother.  The front of the car says “Seeing Saint Louis,” so the photo must have been taken there, maybe at a tourist attraction.  That makes sense because my grandfather lived there at one time.  The photo was probably taken in the early part of the twentieth century.  I’ve had a great time looking at the clothes everyone’s wearing – check out the buttons on my great uncle’s shoe.  (You can click on the photo to enlarge it.)

Saint Louis

Saturday Snapshot was started by Alyce of At Homes With Books and is hosted by Melinda of West Metro Mommy.  It’s easy to participate – just post a picture that was taken by you, a friend, or a family member and add your link on Melinda’s site.

Old photos are such fun to study, especially when they include your family! Do you have any idea who the child is?

Yes, shame it has numbers on it but at the time it gave the card meaning to the owner.

I love that picture and its more fun that you can identify the people in the picture! I inherited a trunk of old pics when my mom passed away and I feel bad but I do not know any of the people in them. I wonder if she did or if it is something she inherited as well….

love this!! Maybe they are at the World’s Fair — I think it was in St. Louis in 1904. That could be a 1903 Ford – which would have been a big deal. Just wondering!! Love to look at and wonder about old pictures!!!

What a great photo to have! It’s too bad they didn’t write on the back instead but still it’s awesome to see the different clothes and all from back then.
