Mailbox Monday
August 26, 2013
Welcome to Mailbox Monday, a meme started by Marcia of To Be Continued. This month’s host seems to be MIA so I’ll be posting a link again this week. I’ve had a busy, but fun week and am visiting my mom right now. I don’t have internet access, but that’s okay – I’m here to enjoy being with her. September’s host is Yolanda of Notorious Spinks Talks Books. Starting next month, Bob of Beauty in Ruins will be the new back-up host for Mailbox Monday. Here are the books that showed up in my mailbox last week:
Tuesday
- The Lost Girls of Rome by Donato Carrisi came from Mulholland Books
- Tinderbox by Lisa Gornick came from Farrar, Straus and Giroux
- How to be a Good Wife by Emma Chapman came from St. Martin’s Press
Thursday
- Help for the Haunted by John Searles came from Harper Collins
- W is for Wasted by Sue Grafton came from Penguin
- Grain Brain by David Perlmutter, MD came from Hachette
- Mister Max by Cynthia Voigt came from Random House
Friday
- Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan came from Random House
Did you find any goodies in your mailbox last week?

Hope you’re having a nice visit with your mom. It’s nice to take an internet break now and then.
I’m reading an e-galley of Two Boys Kissing now- it’s so good. I had to pre-order a hardcover too! Tinderbox looks like a good one. Enjoy!
Hi Kathy,
I like the sound of ‘How To Be A Good Wife’ and early reviews indicate that it is going to be a great success as a debut novel for Emma Chapman.
Sue Grafton’s ‘alphabet series’ is always going to be a winner for me and although I don’t read much children’s literature, the cover art of ‘Mister Max’ is amazing.
I hope that you are enjoying your visit and thank you so much for being such a good ‘stand-in’ host, on so many occasions over the past months.
Yvonne
I have ‘How To Be A Good Wife’ on my to be read next list and with the increasing buzz I think I’ll give it a try soon. Excited about the new David Levithan but I’ll have to wait till the pub date!
The Lost Girls of Rome and How To Be a Good Wife sounds very good. Happy reading!
Enjoy your visit with your mom 🙂
Have a lovely break and enjoy all your books!

Enjoy your time with your mum! I love spending time with my mum. Does yours like to read?
Thanks for being the MM host for August.
It’s the first time I’ve seen Tinderbox – cute cover art and sounds very interesting yet ominous – enjoy.
What a diverse group of goodies. Based on the spines only, I’d pull The Book of Lost Things from the shelf!
You have some nice books – Enjoy them!
Good looking stack o’ books there!
Just saw a review for Two Boys Kissing in EW and it really sounds good. And of course Grafton is mandatory reading for me.
Kathy, I read Help for the Haunted (no review yet) and liked it — hope you do as well. enjoy the new books
Nice mailbox. I picked up a few of those at the BEA.
ENJOY your week.
Elizabeth
Well boo, I was supposed to get the Grafton but didn’t!
I have Mister Max from NetGalley which I’d like to read with my son. The Lost Girls of Rome caught my eye of course. Will be looking for your review on that one.
Nice haul! I really want to read Two Boys Kissing, and I will be looking forward to hearing what you thought of it. Enjoy your new books!
I also received How To Be A Good Wife. Help for the Haunted sounds good, first I’ve heard of it.
Enjoy your visit with mom, the internet can wait!
Looks like you got a lot of interesting books, Kathy! Enjoy your time with your mom. We’ll be here when you return!
I’ve been interested in How To Be A Good Wife, but I don’t think I could read Two Boys Kissing. You always have the tallest stack of exciting books! Thank you for hosting Mailbox Monday again.
Lots of intriguing titles that I want to check out. Glad you are having a visit with your mom.
I can’t wait to read W is for Wasted…I love this series. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week.
Mister Max?! I’m jealous. 🙂 Enjoy your stack!
Ooooh, nice range of arrivals!! Enjoy!
Like nearly everyone I’m on my ear to read Chapman’s book. In the meantime, enjoy the precious time with your mother. Mine was a voracious reader and I miss her terribly. Cheers!
Have fun with your mom…I love that you do that…we have almost all of the same books…I am dying to read Tinderbox!
Enjoy! your time with mom, a great list of reads ahead.
I had a great week-end, saw President Obama, when he came to Scranton, Pa. and had a great day at the beach on Saturday. So sorry summer is coming to an end.
Thank you for hosting again, Kathy! Enjoy your time with your mom, and your new books.
How to be Good Wife seems to be on quite a few TBR piles, anxiously awaiting your review.
The Lost Girls of Rose sounds so cool–I love books that bridge different eras and show commonality over the eons. Very promising. Enjoy your respite from the wired world!
All but two of those titles are new to me. Have fun with your mom!
Enjoy your visit with your mom, Kathy!
I’ve got my copy of W is for Wasted on pre-order! I’m still behind in the series, but I want to catch up this year. Maybe. That’s the plan anyway. LOL
I got How to be a Good Wife as well and cannot wait to start it!!
Looks like a great stack. Enjoy!
I hope you’re having a great time with you mom. My mom is coming to stay with me for a week in November; I haven’t seen her in a year, so I am so excited. 🙂
