Author event and giveaway: Beth Hoffman

July 2, 2013

Beth Hoffman

Several years ago, Beth Hoffman started following me on Twitter, so I followed her back.  I found her to be warm and gracious and thoroughly enjoyed chatting with her.  One day, she tweeted a link to her upcoming tour schedule and I discovered Fiction Addiction‘s fabulous Book Your Lunch events.  Since then, I’ve become a regular at the lunches so I was thrilled to learn that Beth was coming back!   I bought my ticket as soon as they went on sale and was excited to learn that Anita was driving up to attend the event.

Even though she’s an artist, an award winning interior designer, and a New York Times bestselling author, Beth says she’s just “a simple farm girl.”  When it was mentioned that her first book, Saving CeeCee Honeycutt, was a great hit, she told everyone that she was blessed.  She said people have been very kind to her and she was worried about letting them down.  The reviews for her second book, Looking For Me, (my review) have been great, so I’d say she worried for nothing.  Beth said, “CeeCee is my heart, Looking For Me is my soul.”

For her second book, Beth wanted to write about things she loves, like friendships, kindness, forgiveness, nature, and antiques.  She discovered a photo of her grandparents’ farm from 1883 – a place where she grew up – and as she reminisced about it, she noticed a red-tailed hawk outside her window and a story came to mind.  She said her first book was a learning process, so Looking For Me was easier to write.  She enjoyed writing from an adult’s point of view for this book.

Life has been hectic since the publication of her first book, so Beth says she’s going to take a little break before she writes the next one.  I, for one, hope that break’s not too long!

Looking For MeI got Beth to autograph a print copy and she provided an audio copy of Looking For Me for one lucky reader.  The audio copy is brand new but was opened so that she could autograph it.  To enter to win an autographed copy of LOOKING FOR ME, by Beth Hoffman, simply fill out the entry form.  Contest is open worldwide – one entry per person, please.  I will use to determine the winner. Contest ends at midnight EDT Thursday, July 18, 2013.    Comments are welcome (and appreciated) but will not get you an entry in the contest.

I have found everything you said about Beth to be true. Since I met her in Oakland, CA less than a month ago, she has been active in my blog. She makes comments on subjects that are not just about her. I have a relationship with several authors in my area, but I am blown away by Beth. She not only talks the talk, but she also walks the walk. She says she appreciates what bloggers do for her career, and then she goes out and proves it. I have to thank you and a few other bloggers for your reviews of Looking for Me, which was my impetus to go see Beth. Although I haven’t read Looking for Me yet, I did read CeeCee and absolutely loved it. Looking for Me is on the way from Amazon and will be moved to the top of my TBR queue.

I didn’t realize Cee Cee was her first book, anxious to see how Beth’s writing has changed.

How fantastic that you got to meet Beth! I loved CeeCee Hoffman, but I don’t think her new book is out in Australia yet. Crossing my fingers – thanks for offering an awesome giveaway.

Based on her books and her blog comments, I find Beth to be both charming and gracious. I’ll bet she’s all that and more in person. I also hope her break isn’t too long. I can’t wait to “meet” whomever she creates next.

  29. July 4, 2013 7:09 pm

Hi Kathy, I’m so happy to see this giveaway because I’ve read so much good stuff about it. I’m crossing my fingers and toes!

What a nice giveaway! I entered my name in the drawing. I looked up the narrator of the audio, Jenna Lamia, and I don’t think I’ve heard her read anything before, but I see she has won an Audie, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed that I win the audiobook!

  31. July 14, 2013 11:24 pm

    I heart Beth!!!

  32. July 16, 2013 10:12 pm

I hate that I missed seeing Beth when she was in Atlanta.
