Kid Konnection: FArTHER

June 1, 2013

A father dreams of flying but, despite his best efforts, never realizes his dreams.  As an adult, his son manages to do what his father couldn’t.  Now that he has a son of his own, he wonders where the dream will carry him.

FArTHER, by Grahame Baker-Smith, is an absolutely gorgeous picture book that both children and adults will enjoy.  Everyone will be drawn to the gorgeous illustrations and will want to study all the details included in them.  Children may not appreciate the story as much as adults but they will still enjoy the messages in the book and will probably choose this book over and over again.  Parents could use this book to start conversations about dreams and goals.

You’ll want to get this great book for your favorite father and son.  This beautiful illustration is one of the reasons FArTHER won the Kate Greenway Medal in 2011.

The art looks gorgeous and it sounds like the sort of book I would enjoy as much as my daughter. Great post.
