The Muppets

December 8, 2011

Walter and his brother, Gary, have always been close but, as they grow up, Walter can’t help but notice that he’s just a little bit different.  Walter’s a huge fan of the Muppets and has always dreamed of visiting the Muppets Studio.  When Gary and his girlfriend, Mary, head to Los Angeles, Walter tags along so he can make that dream come true.

The trio finds the studio in disrepair and learn that evil oil baron Tex Richman plans to buy it so he can demolish it and drill for oil on the land it sits on.  They don’t take that lightly and come up with a plan to try to save the studio.

We went to see The Muppets with Vance when we visited him for Thanksgiving and we all enjoyed it.  It’s a bit cheesy in spots, but overall, it’s a lot of fun – we all enjoyed it!  This is a movie that the whole family can see together.  The kids won’t get all of the humor, but that’s okay, they’ll still laugh along.

I thought Amy Adams and Jason Segel were great in their roles and I was glad to see so many of the Muppets I love make an appearance.   Yes, I used to watch the TV show regularly and even dragged Carl to see The Muppets Take Manhattan when it was at the theater (although he’s blocked out all memories of it.)  It’s obvious this movie was a labor of love for the writers and producers.  Old fans will love it and I suspect the Muppets will gain many new fans from this movie.  Here’s one of my favorite scenes – I was dancing in my seat!

I loved the Muppets and this clip has made me want to revisit old friends. I just found out our local theater shows one kids friendly movie a month when moms can brings their kids/babies. I’m not confident that Gage would sit for more than one minute, but if they’re showing the Muppets I may give it a try anyway.

I loved the movie too, and particularly this song, because some of the adults I went with didn’t even get that the syllable “cluck” rhymes with the copulatory bad word in the original title of the song.

  38. December 9, 2011 9:07 am

Loved the Muppets! Glad the movie turned out well and you had a wonderful time 🙂

  39. December 9, 2011 10:00 am

i completely agree! this was a great movie and i really enjoyed watching it. although i went to see it with a friend and we were the only adults in the movie theater without a kid with them. who says you’re too old to enjoy a good kid movie, especially when it makes you all nostalgic.

  42. December 10, 2011 4:16 pm

The Muppets were such a favorite when I was a child! I remember begging my parents to allow me to stay up later than my usual bed time to watch the show when it was on. I’m so glad a new generate of children (and children at heart) are being introduced to them.

  43. December 12, 2011 2:55 pm

I really do want to see this one.

  44. December 29, 2011 3:03 pm
