Clear Off Your Shelves Challenge Completed!

November 30, 2009

I can’t believe it!  I’ve completed another challenge!  (This is just my second time actually completing a challenge, so I’m feeling pretty flush.)  The Clear Off Your Shelves Challenge was hosted by Swapna and ran from October 1 to November 30.  The goal was to read “any non-review books that are on your shelves and/or review copies that have been on your shelves for over six months.”  Participants picked a percentage of books to fit that criteria and like the sissy that I am, I signed up for the minimum – 20%.  Here’s what I read during this challenge (I’ve put asterisks by those that count toward the challenge):

  1. Stitches by David Small
  2. Tell Me Something True by Leila Cobo
  3. A Season of Gifts by Richard Peck
  4. Undead and Unreturnable by Mary Janice Davidson (audio book)*
  5. Labor Day by Joyce Maynard
  6. The Unquiet by John Connolly (audio book)*
  7. The Unlikely Disciple by Kevin Roose*
  8. Nine Dragons by Michael Connelly
  9. Willow by Julia Hoban*
  10. Angels by Chuck Fischer
  11. Permissions Slips by Sherri Shepherd
  12. Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris*
  13. Family Sentence: The Search for My Cuban-Revolutionary, Prison-Yard, Mythic-Hero, Deadbeat Dad by Jeanine Cornillot
  14. One Hundred Butterflies by Harold Feinstein
  15. The Magicians by Lev Grossman
  16. Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. by Judy Blume*
  17. Sunflowers by Sheramy Bundrick
  18. All-of-a-Kind Family by Sydney Taylor*
  19. I Have My Mother’s Eyes by Barbara Ruth Bluman
  20. Everything Sucks by Hannah Friedman
  21. The Christmas Cookie Club by Ann Pearlman
  22. A Christmas Ride: The Miracle of Lights by Edie Hand with Jeffrey Addison
  23. Got the Look by James Grippando (audio book)*
  24. New Tricks by David Rosenfelt
  25. Witch & Wizard by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet
  26. Homer’s Odyssey by Gwen Cooper
  27. Wishin’ and Hopin by Wally Lamb*
  28. The Wife’s Tale by Lori Lansens
  29. French Milk by Lucy Knisley*
  30. The Body in the Sleigh by Katherine Hall Page
  31. In the Beginning: The Art of Genesis by Chuck Fischer

Out of 31 books read during October and November, 10 qualify for this challenge, which gives me 32%, so I exceeded my goal!  I think this calls for a book buying celebration.

Good job! I’m doing an unofficial clearing of the shelves, but didn’t join the challenge. I didn’t think of calculating it as a percentage, though–what a great idea.
