BBAW Wrap-up

BBAW_Celebrate_Books

BBAW ended yesterday and what a glorious week it was!  It was amazing, overwhelming and exhausting.  I’d like to thank Amy and all the hard working members of the BBAW Committee for all the hours of work they put into pulling this event off.  I’d also like to thank the authors and publishers for all of their support.  Here are some things I learned this week:

  • Everyone but me thinks I have a Southern accent.
  • Book bloggers love to eat popcorn while they read – someone in marketing needs to pick up on that.
  • It takes a lot of time to read blogger interviews but it’s also loads of fun!
  • Book bloggers love to give away books as much as they love to read and review them.
  • There are tons of fantastic blogs out there and it’s impossible to visit all of them.
  • Everyone’s read The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, both by Suzanne Collins, except me.
  • The book blogging community is wonderfully supportive – there were over 60 people in the chat room of Wednesday’s Blog Talk Radio show.

What did you learn this week?

Awesome wrap-up post! It was a fabulous week and so much fun.

Not quite everyone has read Hunger Games and Catching Fire. So far I have not succumbed and I’m not too sure I will either. Go up north to New England and then your southern ear will really hear an accent!

It was a fun week, that’s for sure. Amy and helpers did an amazing job!

  3. September 19, 2009 7:54 am

Great wrap-up post Kathy! And you are so right, there are so many great blogs and no way to read them all. And you definitely have a Southern accent. You know when a Southern girl can hear your accent, you have one 😉

And what are you waiting for? Hunger Games and Catching Fire are so good!

  4. September 19, 2009 8:04 am

    What a great week!!!

I think we should have a great big slumber party in the middle of the USA! We can all meet each other, talk about books, eat popcorn, and at the end of the night we could have a huge pillow fight!! This community is the best ever!!

  5. September 19, 2009 8:06 am

You’re not alone with Hunger Games and Catching Fire, Kathy!

  6. September 19, 2009 8:17 am

Now I just need to write my reviews for Hunger Games and Catching Fire.

And you do have a cute Southern accent. Apparently I have one also! LOL

  7. September 19, 2009 8:42 am

I’m with you on the “impossible to visit” all the blogs that are out there. We just do our best!!

  8. September 19, 2009 8:45 am

Definitely not alone on The Hunger Games and Catching Fire books 😉

  9. September 19, 2009 8:47 am

I haven’t read The Hunger Games and Catching Fire either, and I’m not really planning to (gasp!). Great wrap up…it’s been quite a week.

  10. September 19, 2009 8:52 am

Great wrap-up post. I agree with you about how much fun this week has been. It was my first and a wonderful way to meet so many new people.

I haven’t read Hunger Games or Catching Fire either.

  11. September 19, 2009 8:59 am

Great post! I think I learned that the blogging community is just super supportive of each other and that they really love to share their love of reading whether it be reviews, interviews, guest posts, or giveaways.

  12. September 19, 2009 9:03 am

Well, who knew there were so many others of us who haven’t read Hunger Games or Catching Fire? (and bravo to those being brave enough to admit that this might not be on your TBR list …;) I don’t know why I am resisting these two … I just am.

  13. September 19, 2009 9:16 am

I haven’t read Hunger Games or Catching Fire either, so you’re not alone! See, there are a whole bunch of us! 😀

BBAW was a blast, and I’m still discovering great new blogs! May take awhile to get through them all, but it’s well worth it.

    Great wrap up post!

  14. September 19, 2009 9:18 am

Maybe there are 2 of us who have not read Hunger Games & Catching Fire (me). They sound amazing; i hadn’t realized they were YA reads.

  15. September 19, 2009 9:56 am

A glorious week it was indeed! I haven’t read The Hunger Games and Catching Fire yet myself, so it looks like I, too, can join the growing support group here of Hunger Games-less readers!

  16. September 19, 2009 10:24 am

I haven’t read Hunger Games yet either! I have it out from the library but didn’t get to it and it’s due today!!

  17. September 19, 2009 10:25 am

Great wrap-up post. I couldn’t take part in BBAW much, so I’m still checking the blogs out.
And you’re not the only one who hasn’t read Suzanne Collins, I’m included too.

Hee hee. I noted the popcorn thing yoo. I think that would be the worst thing to eat because of the mess, but the masses tell me I’m wrong. Don’t worry anout The Hunger Games – I still haven’t read it either!

  19. September 19, 2009 10:47 am

I haven’t read The Hunger Games or Catching Fire either so you are not alone!

  20. September 19, 2009 11:04 am

I guess we need a support group for people who have not yet read those two books!

  21. September 19, 2009 12:04 pm

Great post. I will take me several days to finish going through all the wonderful blogs and posts. And no – I haven’t read Hunger Games and Catching Fire yet either. Good thing book bloggers love popcorn – this week popcorn sales starts for the boy scouts.

  22. September 19, 2009 12:07 pm

    yes, on the popcorn.
negative, on The Hunger Game/Catching Fire.

  23. September 19, 2009 12:48 pm

The blogger interviews were fun…definitely a highlight of my week.

  24. September 19, 2009 12:54 pm

It was a fun but exhausting week! Next time I need to NOT have so much else planned during BBAW time.

  25. September 19, 2009 1:26 pm

Yep, I’ve read both books. Having a southern accent is great- try having a hillbilly twang. Love your wrap-up.

  26. September 19, 2009 1:52 pm

yikes.. I haven’t read those either. Great wrap up since I wasn’t able to be a part of any of it.

  27. September 19, 2009 3:05 pm

Hmm, I never heard of Suzanne Collins until you mentioned her. Is she related to Jackie and Joan? I guess I learned something just from this post.

    Yes, BBAW was fun!

  28. September 19, 2009 3:07 pm

No worries, I JUST finished the Hunger Games this past week and won’t get to Catching Fire until it’s my turn on the library hold list. So you’re not the ONLY person who hasn’t read them both yet. 🙂

  29. September 19, 2009 3:48 pm

I have yet to read Catching Fire, but do have it on my pile of books to be read! I enjoyed the blogger interviews too.

  30. September 19, 2009 3:51 pm

I’ve read Hunger Games but not Catching Fire. I’m on the hold list at the library…. waiting, waiting…

BBAW was a lot of fun, wasn’t it?

  31. September 19, 2009 3:59 pm

What a great post! And clearly I need to get the popcorn people in on giveaways next year! 😉

  32. September 19, 2009 4:01 pm

“Everyone’s read The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, both by Suzanne Collins, except me.”

    And meee!

I haven’t had popcorn in years, but it would make a good reading snack..

  33. September 19, 2009 4:14 pm

Great wrap up!!! You did have a bit of an accent, don’t know it I would call it southern!!! I am another one that has not read either The Hunger Games or Catching Fire, but I am always behind the times!!!!

  34. September 19, 2009 4:46 pm

You’d think Orville Redenbacher would be fighting for a spot on the counter at Barnes & Noble and Borders!

  35. September 19, 2009 5:54 pm

Very well said Kathy! You know, I STILL haven’t listened to your blog talk radio show. (sob) I’m still grabbing minutes here and there to visit everyone, but when I get home, things are going to be different! Gotta get the kids back to school and husband back to work! You know what I learned during BBAW (besides all those things you said)? That if Nymeth has anything to do with my site, my hits go up by about a million from the norm!

  36. September 19, 2009 6:34 pm

You WILL read them, though, and succumb like the rest of us! =) Great observations, I really like the way you did this post.

  37. September 19, 2009 8:49 pm

Loved your wrap-up post!! Please don’t feel like you are the only one who hasn’t read Hunger Games or Catching Fire. Like many other commenters, I’ve not read it either. I think I’m going to take vacation during next year’s BBAW so I can devote more time to blogging!!!

  38. September 19, 2009 8:53 pm

I haven’t read The Hunger Games or Catching Fire, either, so don’t feel bad about it. 😉

  39. September 19, 2009 9:07 pm

I don’t like popcorn, and I’ve bought The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, but am not sure when I’ll get to read them :-).

    Great wrap-up, Kathy!

  40. September 19, 2009 9:41 pm

Great wrap-up!!! I noticed so many people listing popcorn while reading too! I think there is a marketing niche in there somewhere! Calling Orville Reddenbacher!

And I haven’t read The Hunger Games or Catching Fire either … for what it is worth.

And there are too many great blogs out there to be able to read them all … though I wish I could.

  41. September 19, 2009 9:52 pm

You definitely have a Southern accent! And I haven’t read The Hunger Games, nor do I plan on it … so you’re not alone there. 🙂

  42. September 20, 2009 12:05 am

I haven’t read The Hunger Games or Catching Fire, either. And I learned that it is not always about the books, but the people. There are an awful lot of nice and interesting people in book bloggerland (as there are in blogworld in general), and I met many this past week. Like you!

  43. September 20, 2009 6:10 am

I haven’t read HG or CF yet either but I think I’m going to give in and order HG this week.

Oh and congratulations on your award win!

  44. September 20, 2009 11:33 am

Great wrap-up! I am just about starting on the book THE HUNGER GAMES. I succumbed… and is also hosting a birthday giveaway for the same book. 🙂

  45. September 20, 2009 12:55 pm

Great list! I’m another who hasn’t read THE HUNGER GAMES yet. I was initially waiting until I got my TBR down, but now I think I’ll hold off until the whole trilogy is out. Less stress that way. 🙂

  46. September 20, 2009 12:56 pm

    LOL!

You wrapped things up so well how could anyone possibly add to the list. You might be on to something with the marketing/popcorn tie in. Maybe prize packs with Jiffy Pop?

  47. September 20, 2009 8:20 pm

I haven’t read The Hunger Games or Catching Fire yet.
Nice wrap-up to a fun week!

Great post. I haven’t read the Collins’ books yet, either.

  49. September 22, 2009 1:35 am

Wonderfully wrapped up. I agree with all the points except one. I haven’t read the Hunger Games either 🙂

  50. September 24, 2009 10:39 am

I finally got around to reading The Hunger Games, but not Catching Fire (yet)!

I came to a lot of the same conclusions you did. Although, I must add, I haven’t read The Hunger Games or Catching Fire yet. But since so many people love the book, I’m thinking that I just might need to jump into them soon.
