Wondrous Words Wednesday
Wondrous Words Wednesday is a weekly meme where we share new (to us) words that we’ve encountered in our reading. Feel free to join in the fun.
I found this week’s words in An Offer You Can’t Refuse by Jill Mansell.
1. gilet – “In her white fake-fur hat and matching gilet, worn over a red cashmere sweater and black jeans, Sally was ready to impress the hell out of Lola’s dad.”
Gilet is a French word that means a sleeveless jacket resembling a waistcoat or blouse.
2. courgette – “Lola, busy chopping courgettes, was entranced by the look on Doug’s face.”
A courgette is a zucchini in Britain and New Zealand.
