Author event and giveaway: Beth Hoffman
Several years ago, Beth Hoffman started following me on Twitter, so I followed her back. I found her to be warm and gracious and thoroughly enjoyed chatting with her. One day, she tweeted a link to her upcoming tour schedule and I discovered Fiction Addiction‘s fabulous Book Your Lunch events. Since then, I’ve become a regular at the lunches so I was thrilled to learn that Beth was coming back! I bought my ticket as soon as they went on sale and was excited to learn that Anita was driving up to attend the event.
Even though she’s an artist, an award winning interior designer, and a New York Times bestselling author, Beth says she’s just “a simple farm girl.” When it was mentioned that her first book, Saving CeeCee Honeycutt, was a great hit, she told everyone that she was blessed. She said people have been very kind to her and she was worried about letting them down. The reviews for her second book, Looking For Me, (my review) have been great, so I’d say she worried for nothing. Beth said, “CeeCee is my heart, Looking For Me is my soul.”
For her second book, Beth wanted to write about things she loves, like friendships, kindness, forgiveness, nature, and antiques. She discovered a photo of her grandparents’ farm from 1883 – a place where she grew up – and as she reminisced about it, she noticed a red-tailed hawk outside her window and a story came to mind. She said her first book was a learning process, so Looking For Me was easier to write. She enjoyed writing from an adult’s point of view for this book.
Life has been hectic since the publication of her first book, so Beth says she’s going to take a little break before she writes the next one. I, for one, hope that break’s not too long!
I got Beth to autograph a print copy and she provided an audio copy of Looking For Me for one lucky reader. The audio copy is brand new but was opened so that she could autograph it. To enter to win an autographed copy of LOOKING FOR ME, by Beth Hoffman, simply fill out the entry form. Contest is open worldwide – one entry per person, please. I will use random.org to determine the winner. Contest ends at midnight EDT Thursday, July 18, 2013. Comments are welcome (and appreciated) but will not get you an entry in the contest.
