Review: Wedding Dogs
Anyone who’s ever owned a pet knows that they quickly become a part of the family. They become so special to many people, they can’t imagine them not being a part of one of the most memorable days of their lives – their weddings. Katie Preston Toepfer and Sam Stall have collected stories and photos from the weddings of 75 people to create the delightful book, Wedding Dogs: A Celebration of Holy Muttrimony.
Each two page spread tells a little about the couple and the role their four-legged family member played in their wedding on one side and gorgeous color photos featuring the dog(s) on the other. On more than one occasion the dog served as the ring bearer, but most of the time they were there to calm nerves or to lighten the mood.
I loved looking through Wedding Dogs, reading the stories, and admiring the photographs. I’ve read it once but flipped through the photos quite a few times. This would be the perfect book to give the bride to be, or any animal lover, really – I can’t wait to share a copy with our niece who will be tying the knot next year!

Like I told Julie when she reviewed this, having a dog in my wedding is exactly the type of thing I would do. Likewise, I wouldn’t be all that shocked if my daughter had a cat at her wedding.
Lol! I think a cat at a wedding might be even less successful than some of these dogs were!
I just heard of a wedding where the dog was part of the wedding party…LOL Times have changed.
I so like this!
The photos really were special as were some of the stories!
I just posted my review of this one
Such a sweet book to look at!
If I had to do it again, I would definitely use my big boy dog as a ring bearer. Never mind the fact that he probably wouldn’t stay on task. He would try though!
Oh yes, my sister in law had her dogs in the wedding photo. Beautiful Collie dogs well groomed, (I don’t think the bride went to the beauty parlor, but the dogs did).
This looks so cute!
I too loved this already from Julie’s review! Can’t wait to find a copy so I can see for myself!
Sounds like a cute one.
I saw this book and thought it would be great to give my daughter. She is a dog lover and is getting married in July.
At first, I wasn’t sure who was getting married, man or beast! This is too cute!
How cute! My daughter loves to watching the Four Weddings tv show and they have had dogs take part in ceremonies on there quite a few times. I can’t imagine my guy would ever be calm enough to walk down an aisle – not with all of the people in the room for him to say hello to!
What fun…but what about wedding kitties?
Cute! This reminds me of my sister in law. Her dog (the ring bearer at the wedding) lost the rings. I think they came undone or something. Luckily, they found them after the ceremony. So they pretended to slip rings on during the ceremony.
Yup, the perfect book for dog lovers. The pics must reveal a lot of emotions. Weddings and pup love.
This one sounds like fun. I loved my dog, but he was a little too rambunctious to be part of the wedding.
What a cute idea for a book! My friends recently got married and included their dog in the ceremony, and I thought it was the perfect touch (that dog is like a child to them). I’ll have to tell them about this book. Thanks for sharing
My mother joked with me about letting my childhood dog become the “flower dog” at my wedding. If she hadn’t brought it up the week before the wedding, I would totally have been on board with that, as I didn’t have a flower girl of any kind. We’ve been married for almost 16 years, and I now wish I would have done it. I do have a great picture of her with her head on my lap as I’m waiting for the limo to pick me up to take me to the church.
That being said, I can imagine that the book is cute the first time around but probably only has meaning for those brides in the pictures themselves.
I love dogs…but really??
My cousin’s daughter got married a few years ago and her dog played a role in the wedding! It was adorable and this book sounds great!
ha fun. Wedding dogs?! If I had my puppy then, maybe I could have squeezed her in somehow. This book would be fun to browse through
What a great shower idea!
