Saturday Snapshot

We don’t see snow around here very often so when we do, it’s big news.  It snowed for a couple hours last Saturday and I was rather surprised that it stuck since it had been 65º the day before.  It was exactly the kind of snow I like – it didn’t stick to roads or sidewalks and started melting almost as soon as it stopped coming down.  I’m hoping it’s the only snow we’ll have this year.  My collage shows a view from our backdoor while it was snowing, a photo of the house after it snowed, and remnants of a couple of snowmen in one of our pocket parks the next day.  (You can click on the photos to make the collage larger.)

I love seeing photos of snow! Great snowman!

  2. February 23, 2013 11:00 am

That would be the kind of snow I would like too :)

  3. February 23, 2013 11:20 am

Me too! I want that kind of snow. It actually looks pretty when it’s only on the grass.

  4. February 23, 2013 11:31 am

Beautiful! I wouldn’t mind seeing a little snow now and then. Great shots :)

The snowmen made me laugh! Your home is so pretty, Kathy … and I love that you have woods.

  6. February 23, 2013 11:56 am

    Very pretty!! Love the snowman!

Your home looks lovely … I’ll take the second floor room on the left. It looks like such a cozy and interesting room, at least from the outside. Oh, my imagination is going into overdrive but is there a window seat? Are there bookcases? A writing desk that isn’t covered with all of my own and everybody else’s crap?
    Sigh.
Okay, not sure if Alyce will link today due to the move BUT My Saturday Snapshot is up too.

Wow! We have snow too but it’s expected by us!

  9. February 23, 2013 12:50 pm

That’s the type of snow we get in Portland, too, when it comes. I love it. If it stays more than a few hours, chaos breaks loose!

  10. February 23, 2013 1:01 pm

Hopefully, this is the last of winter. Very lovely photos, Kathy.

    Hi Kathy,

We are also quite lucky here in the South of the UK, where the weather conditions are generally much milder and less extreme, that they are further North.

Having said that, the entire country has been subjected to a raw Easterly wind for the last few days, which has caused gey and overcast skies, a bitingly cold wind dragging daytime temperatures below freezing and even a few snow flurries today!

Snow is great, when you are in the inside in the warm looking out, knowing that you don’t have to venture too far from home until it has all cleared.

A lovely series of pictures to tell the story, thanks for sharing.

    Yvonne

We had snow last night although the forecast was just rain. The sun is out so I think it will melt before too long.

  13. February 23, 2013 1:35 pm

That’s the kind of snow I’d like too but ours sticks around for three months :) Nice pics – it’s not easy to capture the actual falling snow!

  14. February 23, 2013 2:41 pm

    Love your photos.

  15. February 23, 2013 2:43 pm

The quick melting snow is a favorite of mine. We haven’t gotten all that much snow this year in inches, but whenever it does snow, it always seems to be when I’m driving home from work. I liked snow so much more before I started working in healthcare. ;-)

When it snows here, this is the kind we get too – and the kind I like! It sticks around just long enough to be pretty (and to cause the city to shut down for a moment) and then is gone before it becomes too much of a nuisance.

We NEVER get snow and it would be so great to get a little for a couple days a year. The photos are fun, especially the snowmen

  18. February 23, 2013 4:46 pm

You lucky duck! Everything looks beautiful!

  19. February 23, 2013 4:48 pm

Perfect kind of snow….it has snowed here twice (that I know of) in the past 40 some years…and it barely lasted long enough to photograph as snow.

But an hour from here, we have the kind of snow you can ski on.

    Here’s MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST

I like snowy days when I can stay home warm and cozy. Nice photos!

  21. February 23, 2013 7:09 pm

I’m so surprised that there was enough to make a few snowmen!! So cool!! Gorgeous home.

  22. February 23, 2013 7:20 pm

Yay Snow! You are right…that was the best kind. The kind that leaves quickly.

  23. February 23, 2013 9:06 pm

I love the house photo – it looks so pretty with the snow!

And many apologies for not posting on time. The past few days have raced by, but my post is up now.

We had a we bit of a blizzard to top off the 3feet of snow we had earlier this week, my pond looks like it’s in the Grand Canyon (we have an ice melter there for the fish) but the banks of the snow are so high.

  25. February 23, 2013 10:41 pm

we’ve only had snow flurries a couple of weekends in north georgia….i love your pictures…especially the snowman – too cute :-D

  26. February 24, 2013 2:08 am

Snow! Heading to Tahoe in a couple weeks. Hope there is still some to play in.

  27. February 24, 2013 4:57 am

It looks very pretty, but I prefer snow that doesn’t hang around too long. http://goo.gl/7FE3e

  28. February 24, 2013 3:16 pm

This is absolutely the kind of snow I like as well. Wish we would have gotten more this year but the chances now are pretty slim. So gorgeous!

That sounds like a perfect snowfall!

    Here’s my Saturday Snapshot!

That’s my kind of snow, too. We got a bit last week (5 or 6 inches, tops) and we were supposed to get hit again last night, but it passed us by. Still more on the way tomorrow and Wednesday, though. I don’t mind too much. We have someone to clear our driveway and walks and my car handles beautifully, so it’s not much of an annoyance.

The snow coming down in the photo of your backyard looks so pretty. I also love the photo of your house after some snow. I think it looks so pretty after snow falls and before it’s shoveled, trampled over etc. It’s nice you don’t get much snow…sometime we get a lot here, sometimes we don’t! I prefer snow to rain but happily take sun over both anyday

I hope you’re having a good week without much snow bothering you!

  32. February 25, 2013 9:05 pm

Glad you got a little taste of the white stuff … though after a 65 degree day, I’m sure it was a bit of a surprise.

  33. February 26, 2013 12:22 am

Your house looks so pretty with the snow! We have snow piles that last til spring here not matter how warm it gets :)

Your house looks lovely! That’s just the amount of snow I enjoy!

  35. March 1, 2013 10:22 am

Lol – it’s not often I hear that you have snow. Great photos. That’s the only kind of snow to have if you’re going to – the one that doesn’t stick to roads or sidewalks.
