Author event and giveaway: Kimberly Brock
I first met Kimberly Brock on Twitter, so I was really excited when she told me she was coming to Fiction Addiction for a signing and I made plans to be there. Kimberly is from north Georgia and is full of Southern charm. She brought delicious, homemade pumpkin bread to the event. She said pumpkin bread relates to her book, The River Witch, and she will have the recipe plus a playlist on her website. (A song by Anna Kline and the Grits Soul Band inspired her as she was working on her final manuscript and the band will be joining her on a few stops of her tour!)
Kimberly said her book is being sold as women’s fiction but she thinks it’s literary fiction. Whatever it is, it’s getting lots of attention from the likes of The Huffington Post, the Pulpwood Queens, She Reads, and some others!
The first part of The River Witch was written five years ago and then set aside. Kimberly wrote two manuscripts and had a baby before she came back and finished it. She is currently working on another Southern mystical novel.
Kimberly has a degree in theater and worked with severe special needs kids before she had children. She’s married with three kids and is currently a stay at home mom.
About the book:
Broken in body and spirit, she secludes herself in the mystical wilderness of a Georgia island. Can she find herself in the sweetness of old songs, old ways, and the gentle magic of the river people?
I got Kimberly to autograph a copy of The River Witch for one lucky reader. To enter to win an autographed copy of THE RIVER WITCH, simply fill out the entry form. Contest is open worldwide – one entry per person, please. I will use random.org to determine the winner. Contest ends at midnight EDT Saturday, July 14, 2012. Winner will be announced on Sunday, July 15, 2012. Comments are welcome (and appreciated) but will not get you an entry in the contest.

I’m not going to enter because I’m supposed to be receiving this one in the mail. It looks terrific!
Ms. Brock seems like a sweetie bringing treats and all. I bet you had a great time at the book event.
How nice that you got to meet the author, the book sounds good!
Sounds like good Southern fiction. I like the title too.
I’ve met Kimberly on twitter too, and we just missed each other this past week when she was in central FL. I’m not entering because I am going to be receiving this book. I’m looking forward to reading it.
Everything about this one looks awesome!
I’ve been wanting to read this one!
What a lovely treat to meet this young lady.
What a fun looking event!
I’ve loved interacting with Kimberly via Twitter. I’m so glad for this opportunity. If I’m not the lucky winner, it will be my next purchase.
Wow. . . would love to win The River Witch!! It is at the top of my Amazon list! I love Southern fiction and books set in Georgia. . . especially on the barrier islands.
This one has my name written all over it! Can’t wait!
Another great looking book and giveaway Kathy! I want to check and see is she will be touring anywhere near me.
I just checked the book out at Goodreads and love what several authors blurbed about the book. Going to fill out the giveaway form! I hadn’t heard about The River Witch before now so thanks for the heads up!
I would love to have an auto copy!
This sounds like it was a great chance to get together with her, and since I love pumpkin bread, I am envious
Thanks for the great giveaway. I am thinking that if I don’t win this one, I am going to go ahead and pick up a copy for myself soon. Thanks, Kathy!!
A woman with kids at home writing books is inspiring
Wow, this one sounds fantastic and unfortunately it’s the first I’m hearing of it. It sure sounds like something I would like.
I’m a broken record…I’m so jealous. I want a store around me like yours!!!
Sounds marvelous. I’m now hoping it releases on audio. Pumpkin bread? Yes please.
