Saturday Snapshot

June 16, 2012

Just a few weeks ago, I shared a photo of a new family in our neighborhood.  We’ve enjoyed watching them and can’t believe how quickly they’ve grown.  They’ve gotten so big in a few short weeks – it’s hard to tell the goslings and the parents apart from a distance now.  We’ve seen a lot of wing flapping but, so far, we haven’t seen the goslings fly.

Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce of At Home With Books.  It’s easy to participate – just post a picture that was taken by you, a friend, or a family member and add your link on Alyce’s site.

Canada Geese are fun, aren’t they? We’ve seen more ducks around our area this year

  10. June 16, 2012 12:59 pm

How fun! My parents used to raise geese/ducks when I was little. It’s fun watching them grow up.

Aren’t they fantastic. Waddling along in a line like children in a ‘crocodile’. My snapshot is at http://goo.gl/vTUc8

Our local geese families are getting big too! It’s so funny to see them all still following their parents.

All grown up! They must not be hurting for food.

Geese are beautiful from a distance–but tend to be bad-tempered up close!

  16. June 16, 2012 4:04 pm

    Lovely shot! Very pretty!

They are definitely growing! They look so majestic when they walk…they always keep their head up and walk with honor :)

It is amazing, how fast they grow! We have a family giving in the fields behind my office..daddy…or mommy..goose came after me the other day when I got a bit too close with my camera…lol

  27. June 16, 2012 9:24 pm

Lovely group of big birdies. It is amazing that they mature so quickly.
    :)

Honk! Honk! Love seeing them from a distance, but up close they can be aggressive and messy! To boot, our dogs insist on rolling in their poop! Gross!

  29. June 16, 2012 10:44 pm

It truly is amazing how quickly they mature!
It’s always sad when the dad starts to chase them away…ours usually have flying lessons across our pond…but not yet.

  30. June 16, 2012 11:07 pm

How beautiful is that. I wish I was able to see them growing up. We see many chickens with babies but it always seems like a new family walking through, lol

  31. June 17, 2012 2:45 am

They do grow quickly, and once they lose those baby feathers it’s hard to tell them apart. You’ll know which ones are the kids when you see them try to fly!

  32. June 17, 2012 6:36 am

Such a sweet photo – I hope you get to witness the flying lessons!

Goslings do grow fast. A neighbor of ours who lives by a lake always has several goose families in her yard. As long as they stay off the road, they’re very safe there.

  35. June 17, 2012 11:12 am

Wonderful, and they’ve really grown up. Hope you ge to see them fly soon.

  36. June 17, 2012 1:33 pm

They do look so grown up now – I’d never guess they were young geese!

  37. June 17, 2012 3:28 pm
