Saturday Snapshot
April 28, 2012
We have a couple of ponds in our neighborhood and are regularly visited by geese, ducks, and other waterfowl. We’ve suspected a pair of Canada Geese were nesting near one of the ponds and, this week, our suspicions were confirmed! I was surprised at how close the parents would let me get, but it didn’t take them long to tire of my foolishness and hustle their little family away. They are such a joy to watch!
Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce of At Home With Books. It’s easy to participate – just post a picture that was taken by you, a friend, or a family member and add your link on Alyce’s site.

The little ones are so adorable. Those look freshly hatched. At least the parents let you observe and didn’t try to attack you.
This is such a sweet photo, Kathy! I love that the entire family is together here. The ducklings are adorable, so fuzzy! I’m sure it was fun to watch the family interact. The adult goose in front has some black at the very end of the back, is this one the male?

Beautiful picture
They are so adorable! We have them here too. I love it when they waddle across the street and traffic has to stop to let them by – so cute
aw… too cute!! They’re so fluffy when they’re little!!
those ducklings are adorable! Definitely don’t want to tick off Mama Goose with those ducklings nearby!
That is an awesome picture… the family out for a stroll!

Too darn cute!! Love the family shot.
You certainly live in a beautiful environment… I live in the city and, although I love it, I sure miss some nature around me.
Thanks for sharing this.
They’re all so cute, especially the babies. We have Sand Cranes in our yard that have had babies.
Here’s My Photo
Absolutely wonderful!
They are sooooo cute. Great shot. Kathy!
How adorable!! That is an amazing photo too! It must be so fun to watch the little family grow. Thanks for sharing!
I know…they are so sweet…our parents and babies are gone…no clue where!

BABIES!!! they’re so cute!
So sweet.
We use to have cranes near my old job in Florida and I use to love seeing them with their babies.
Very sweet family portrait!
I love the babies!!! The parents are so protective aren’t they!
Those goslings are gorgeous! So are their parents actually. What a lovely encounter.
How adorable! And really interesting, because I saw similar chicks at my park recently…it was a week after Easter and they looked so much like Easter chicks that I wondered if they were dumped by someone who thought they were cute for the day but didn’t want to keep them. However, we have Canada geese at the park, so now I’m thinking maybe they weren’t orphans after all!
Baby animals are the best! There are so few species which don’t have adorable babies, and these are certainly cuties!
What a cute family! Thanks for sharing…and aren’t you lucky to have such wonderful things happening close by.
Glad you could visit my blog.
It is so much fun to watch wildlife. The babies are such cuties.
What a great shot! I love it!
What a lovely treat.
Kathy, so very very sweet. Then in another 6 weeks they will be at that “ugly duckling stage”.
So sweet! I always love to see what picture you’re posting each week!!

Now how adorable is that?
I have recently become a birdwatcher, and I would love to have gotten the chance to see this little family up close! Simply wonderful!
Oh, aren’t they just the cutest! We have a manmade lake near our house where there are a lot of them. I like to watch them.
I love the little goslings!! They look so fuzzy! And that is pretty close. They must be used to you.
They are so cute! Sometimes on my walk to work, there’s a family of geese that walk up the sidewalk with me or stand off to the side. As I get closer, they hiss, but hey, I have to get to the building. LOL
How adorable those little ones are!
This is so adorable. I love the picture. I live near a lake where I was able to capture some similar photos of a momma duck with her little ducklings. They are so cute, aren’t they?
