Mailbox Monday
October 31, 2011
Happy Halloween! I hope everyone has a day full of treats and no tricks. Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia of A Girl and Her Books and is being hosted by Serena of Savvy Verse and Wit this month. This was a pretty good week for me, because I broke even – I read three books and got three books. Here’s what I found in my mailbox last week:
Monday
- Hot Water by Erin Brockovich with CJ Lyons came from FSB Associates
Tuesday
- The Iguana Tree by Michel Stone was given to me by Hub City Press while I was at an author event at Hub City Books
Friday
- Love and Shame and Love by Peter Orner came from Hachette Books
Did you get any new books last week?

Looks like you had a light week…now you can take a breather and read some scary stories for the holiday!
What Serena said! Usually you have so many books, my head spins wondering how you will read them all. I don’t know much about any of these, but I hope they are good!
These are new to me. Enjoy them all.
These are all new to me as well. I hope you enjoy them. Happy reading!
I had no idea Erin Brockovich was writing fiction now…no idea how you get 3 books read in a week…ah, what bliss
I hope you like them all!
I’m curious about the Erin Brockovich one.
ooohh, three titles that are new to me! Love and Shame and Love catches my eye.
Love the Erin Brockovich one, will be interested to hear what you think.
Hmmm….. Hot Water by Brockovich? I bet that is interesting! Happy Halloween Kathy. Nothing happening here tonight.. probably hanging on the couch with Monsters Of Men.
Oh, is the Erin Brockovich book fiction or nonfiction? It does look intriguing. I read her fiction book Rock Bottom recently.
Enjoy your reading!
Here’s MY MONDAY MEMES POST and

All three are new titles to me. I just looked at Hub city Press’ website — looks like they publish very interesting things!

All new to me books. Enjoy your reading week!
Not familiar with these titles, but am intrigued by the Erin Brockovich book. Enjoy!
I am curious about the Erin Brockovich book. She is an interesting woman. I wonder how her writing is?
I always forget that Erin Brockovich is a real person and not a made up character played by Julia Roberts. Hope you have a great week and Happy Halloween.
They all look good. I didn’t know Brockovich wrote fiction!
Nice, “mangeable” mailbox. Happy Halloween, Kathy!
I don’t have any of those books so I can’t wait to hear what you think of them. Enjoy your goodies! Happy Halloween!!
I would like to read Hot Water b/c I really enjoyed the movie Erin Brocovich. Hope it is another compelling true story!
Kathy you had a quiet week but you got some great books. I have to admit those are all pretty new to me titles. Enjoy
Happy Halloween, Kathy. We get very few trick-or-treaters here in the country but Dave insists we buy lots of candy. Hmmm, I sense an ulterior motive here.
Hi Kathy,
I can only dream of getting three books read in a week!
Theses are all new titles and authors to me, but I wouldn’t mind reading the Erin Brockovich, sounds like a strong and powerful story and the cover art is great.
I am in two minds about ‘Love and Shame and Love’, can’t decide whether it really appeals to me or not and I wasn’t struck on the cover, looks a bit washed out, but I guess it is meant to reflect Alexander’s life.
‘The Iguana Tree’ doesn’t really appeal at all, I read the synopsis, but it just doesn’t spark any interest, I’m afraid.
Hope that you enjoy your haul
Love and Shame and Love looks interesting – this is the first I’ve seen it. I haven’t tracked how many books I read vs. how many arrive at my house. Scary thought that. I might have to actually come face to face with my book addiction.
I had hear Erin Brokavich had a book coming out ~ hope it is a good one! is this fiction? non-fiction? can’t wait to read your review on it!
Happy Halloween Kathy! and I’m with Alyce ~ keeping track of the books that come into the house v. those I’ve read/going out of the house…..wow! scary, scary thought!
You always get such interesting and unique books.
Love and Shame and Love looks like a good one! Can’t wait for your review!
Great picks! That last one really interests me

Love and Shame and Love sounds really good, and I’m curious about the Erin Brockovich book. Looking forward to your reviews!
Looks like three good ones. Enjoy!
LOVE AND SHAME AND LOVE looks like a chunkster (or are the other books simply thin? Maybe the camera adds 10 chapters?)
Looks like some great books Kathy. Enjoy!
Looks like it was the perfect week in your mailbox!
