Saturday Snapshot

September 10, 2011

Carl and I visited London for the first time in June so, of course, we had to hit all of the tourist spots.  I’m sure everyone’s seen a photo of Big Ben before, but it was the first time we saw it in person, so we took LOTS of pictures of it.  I think this is one of the best.

Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce of At Home With Books.  It’s easy to participate – just post a picture that was taken by you, a friend, or a family member and add your link on Alyce’s site.

Your trip must have been so much fun! Did you hear the chimes (gongs?) of Big Ben?

  2. September 10, 2011 11:07 am

    Aw, Big Ben! Nice pic.

  3. September 10, 2011 11:08 am

This is something I long to get my very own pictures of. It must have been so exciting to see it in person!

  4. September 10, 2011 11:28 am

Nice pic! I’ve seen plenty pictures of Big Ben, but not so many taken on a nice sunny-looking day like that. :)

  5. September 10, 2011 11:32 am

Great perspective, I can feel how huge the tower is!

  6. September 10, 2011 11:37 am

Big Ben -wow- it’s so huge!

  7. September 10, 2011 11:38 am

Great photo! It never matters if there are a zillion photos of a landmark because you need your own memories of that moment!

  8. September 10, 2011 11:38 am

Big Ben looks so beautiful especially with the gorgeous sky in the background.

I haven’t been to London since I was a teen. I’d sure love to go back some day.

That’s a wonderful picture of Big Ben. One of these days I’m going to see it live and in person for myself.

Great shot. Big Ben is looking glorious with that blue skied background and greenery. London is one of my favorite cities in the world.

It is impossible not to take a zillion photos of Big Ben. It’s just so impressive and stately looking in person. :)

  14. September 10, 2011 1:04 pm

    Wow, beautiful photo.

  15. September 10, 2011 1:51 pm

I like how this photo really shows the size of the building (and blue sky, a definite plus when in London!)

  16. September 10, 2011 2:11 pm

I would so love to check out this landmark! It is certainly a must-see!

  17. September 10, 2011 2:48 pm

That’s a great picture of Big Ben. One of the good things about London is that there’s so much to see that you have to go back over and over again :-)

  18. September 10, 2011 2:59 pm

Much more exciting to be able to take your own picture I’m sure. And you even managed to get a day with a blue sky!

  19. September 10, 2011 2:59 pm

I like it! I want to go back to London, my one visit was for one night as a stop-over to Germany. I think I need a month there…at least.

I’ve never been to London and have only seen small not so clear pictures of Big Ben. I double clicked on the photo and was amazed at the architecture. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such detail! Beautiful!

  35. September 11, 2011 4:13 pm

    Hi Kathy,

It is a pretty spectacular sight, isn’t it? We were up in London just last week on my niece’s ‘hen’ party. We had an evening River Thames boat cruise and dinner booked, leaving from Westminster pier, which is right across the road from Big Ben. As we were walking past to get to the dock, it turned 6 o’clock and we were stood right under the clock as it struck the hour. An awesome sound that seemed to reverberate around the whole area.

  36. September 11, 2011 7:06 pm

I’ve never been to London. This is a great angle for a shot of Big Ben. Thank you!

  37. September 11, 2011 7:39 pm

Great shot. I would love to go to Lodon some day.

  38. September 12, 2011 4:43 am

Good Shot Kathy, I would love to visit London someday too…

  39. September 12, 2011 12:40 pm

Oooh, Big Ben — my buddy! Fun to see a shot from your London trip . . . I’ll keep my eyes peeled for more!

  40. September 12, 2011 1:43 pm

    I’m so jealous. Great picture!

  41. September 12, 2011 1:44 pm

it’s such a pretty building. We had a lot of rain when in London so not many pictures from our trip. Nice that you got a bunch!!

  42. September 14, 2011 6:08 pm

It’s always exciting seeing iconic world buildings for the first time, isn’t it? Great picture.

  43. September 14, 2011 8:44 pm

I think Big Ben is one of those things that always looks neat in a photo…no matter how often you see it.

  44. September 15, 2011 10:23 am

When we were there it was also a lovely day. I was amazed at the architecture of Big Ben and the Parliament buildings. Such detailed work. Come to think of it, a book about the building of those structures would be good to read.
