Weekend Cooking: Alice’s Tea Cup
I was lucky enough to go to Alice’s Tea Cup when I was in New York last year. This charming restaurant had great ambiance as well as delicious tea and food, so I was really excited to see that they’ve come out with a cookbook! Since the recipes in this cookbook come from the tea room, they’re for lighter fare, like breakfast foods, soups, salads, sandwiches, desserts, and even a few cocktails. There are also sections on brewing tea, throwing a tea party, creating menus with the recipes and tie dyeing.
Alice’s Tea Cup, by Haley Fox and Lauren Fox, is beautiful – with heavy weight paper and gorgeous photographs. Not every recipe is pictured, though. Several of the recipes call for tea that I wasn’t able to find locally, and since I don’t use a lot of tea, I wasn’t sure what I could substitute. Carl had a hankering for chocolate chip cookies, so we decided to try the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies from this cookbook. All of the ingredients were readily available and the directions were easy to follow. We made the cookies smaller than the recipe calls for (and reduced the cooking time), so we ended up with a lot of cookies. We took a plate full to a Super Bowl party and everyone who ate one said they were delicious! We both agreed with them. If you enjoy unique recipes, like Rice Krispies Treats Scones or Chocolate Pumpkin Cupcakes, you will enjoy this cookbook.

I want to go back againt this year!
I love peanut butter cookies. Alice’s Teacup is right up the street from me and I have never been. One of these days I just have to get there.
Two of my husband’s favorite foods are peanut butter and chocolate. I might try these for him.
The cookies look good! Now I want to pull this book down and see what I could make as a companion to tonights dinner!
I need to find this book!
I’ll have to try this. My husband often has hankerings for p.b. choc chip cookies!

I wish I knew more about tea and the art of a tea party. The cookies look and sound good. I like the use of mini chocolate chips.
Chocolate chips in peanut butter cookies is a brilliant idea! Those look so pretty with the traditional fork grid and dotted with chocolate chips.
I have banana chocolate chip bread baking in my bread machine right now. Can’t wait for it to be done!
Well those look yummy…and peanut butter, never seen that in a recipe here .)
My son and his wife love Alice’s Tea Cup, so I’m sure any cookbook from them must be terrific. I’d love to try the chocolate pumpkin cupcapkes as chocolate and pumpkin are two are of my favorite things.

I hope to visit this cute little tea shop the next time I am in New York. In the meantime, I hope I can find a copy of it at my local library so that I can imagine all the delightful fun.
The recipe looks great! Two of our favorite things together!
Am here from Cheryl’s blog. Congrats on being this weeks Shining Star. I love this new feature and it has lead me to your beautiful blog!!!

Will have to go to Alice’s Tea Cup when next in NY.
I just bought a slew of pastries to celebrate early Valentine tonight since hubby has classes tomorrow night. It’s Valentine for my clan with kids, yeppers we celebrate as a family since LOVE is the theme for Valentine.
PS that’s a muffin right on the cover…. looks good enough to eat. Going to try my hand at the peanut butter chocholate chip cookie. I actually have kosher salt in the cupboard so this should work. YUM and thanks for making my mouth water again
Sounds like a place my girls would love!
Anything Wonderland-related is awesome in my book!
That’s really neat that you visited this place too. The cookies looked like they turned out good!!
Oh I do so want some of those cookies.
Looking ready to bite in!
I know I’d love this cookbook — and I bet I’d love the restaurant.
Does one of those cookies have a bite out of it?! Irresistible!
Can we find time to go back to Alice’s Tea Cup in May?!
Chocolate chip cookies! I’d be happy to make them minus the peanut butter
