Mailbox Monday

November 15, 2010

Mailbox Monday is one of my favorite memes because  I love taking a peek at everyone else’s books.   Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia of The Printed Page and is being hosted by Julie of Knitting and Sundries for the month of November.  Here’s what showed up at my house last week:

Monday

Tuesday

Friday

Saturday

  • A box of five books and a homemade bookmark came from my friend Heather of Raging Bibliomania

What did you find in your mailbox last week?

Lucky you to win the audio of Freedom!

  9. November 15, 2010 8:46 am

You won some great prizes! I’d like to read Keith Richards’ bio. Please stop by my Mailbox if you get a chance. Happy reading!

  10. November 15, 2010 9:11 am

Nice wins! I’m interested in your thoughts on Freedom. I haven’t read Franzen but this one sounds interesting, I like family dramas.

  11. November 15, 2010 9:20 am

    Great mailbox Kathy

I am looking forward to your review of Freedom. I read The Corrections and liked it alot (although I hated all the characters), but have heard mixed things about this new one.

  12. November 15, 2010 9:40 am

Hm I did see that the library has bought the Franzen book.
    Happy reading!

  13. November 15, 2010 9:44 am

What a great week’s wins. I want to read the Keith Richards bio. I hear it’s pretty wild. I’d also like to hear what you think about Freedom. I’ve been hearing good things but for some reason I don’t know how excited I am by it.

  14. November 15, 2010 9:45 am

The Louisa May Alcott biography looks good. Have you ever been to her house in Concord? I lived right around the corner from it for the first 13 years of my life. It’s absolutely gorgeous there, so if you’re interested in her it’s a great place to spend a vacation! = )

  15. November 15, 2010 9:59 am

I bought a copy of Freedom just the other day, and I am excited about it because I just loved The Corrections. I am looking forward to getting the chance to try it out. Also, I have been really eying the Keith Richards book as well, so I will be really interested in hearing your take on it. Enjoy all the new books!

  16. November 15, 2010 10:18 am

It looks like you received a lot of good ones! I would love to listen to Freedom also, so I will be looking forward to your review of this one.

  17. November 15, 2010 11:17 am

Great mailbox this week, I hope you enjoy them all.

I had heard a really interesting interview with Harriet Reisen the author of Louis May Alcott: The Woman Behind Little Women, on the Dian Rehm Show. The topic was this book so I thought I would share the link with you in case you were interested.

  18. November 15, 2010 11:38 am

    Nice selection.

I was thinking of listening to Feedom too so I’ll be interested in the audiobook review. And I suppose Keith Richard’s Life could be very interesting.

  19. November 15, 2010 11:45 am

You got a great selection here! My mailbox was not so full this week lol http://blog.juliealindsey.com/

  20. November 15, 2010 11:54 am

Great group of books! I’m interested to see how you find the audi of Freedom. I expect Keith Richards Life is very interesting!

I hope the Louise May Alcott book is good. I want to know about her but I don’t!

What a nice box from Heather! Enjoy!

I just read the Louisa May Alcott bio last week and liked it. I’ll be interested to see what you think of it since you read a lot more bios then I do.

  22. November 15, 2010 12:35 pm

Kathy! What a great and diverse “mailbox”! Hachette sent you Keith Richards’ book?! Enjoy ! :)

  23. November 15, 2010 1:24 pm

I’m interested in the Louisa May Alcott book and I’m also curious to know what books Heather sent you! Enjoy your loot!

  24. November 15, 2010 1:38 pm

I’ve heard so many mixed reviews for Freedom. I am looking forward to your thoughts on it. Louisa May Alcott fascinates me. You had a very good week Kathy!

  25. November 15, 2010 1:47 pm

Looks like a great list of books. Enjoy!

  26. November 15, 2010 2:18 pm

I’m excited to hear about I Slept With Joey Ramone!

  27. November 15, 2010 2:29 pm

I read a great review of Life by musician Liz Phair in the NY Times. Sounds terrific! Hope you enjoy Freedom more than I did. I still feel like I’m missing something that others are getting out of it :/

  28. November 15, 2010 3:01 pm

My jaw just hit the floor. You got LIFE. I am so jealous!

  32. November 15, 2010 4:16 pm

I too like the Alcott book. Will wait to see what you think of it.

  33. November 15, 2010 4:44 pm

Audio may be the way to go with Freedom. I’m not a fan of his writing but sort of want to read it just to know what all the fuss is about.

What a pair your two audios are!

  35. November 15, 2010 5:04 pm

The Keith Richards book is supposed to be fantastic…

  36. November 15, 2010 6:03 pm

Sounds like the rock stars are hitting your mailbox. Keith Richards always looks so “wasted” and it amazes me to see how he’s still about. Stones music will always be a a symbol of when music was at it’s epitome of song writing.

Joey Ramone.. one word… scary ;P

    Nice selection Mrs K :)

  37. November 15, 2010 6:20 pm

I’ve been wanting to read Freedom for awhile! Enjoy your haul.

  38. November 15, 2010 6:46 pm

wow! Those are some great books.
For a change I got some books too, yeah I was excited.
    I got (all used)
    - The Poisonwood Bible
    - Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood
    - The Winter Queen
    - Canterville Ghost and Other Stories (this is too good)
    - The Guy not Taken.

    I can’t help but Gush :D

  39. November 15, 2010 7:29 pm

    Great mailbox stack! Happy reading!

  40. November 15, 2010 8:09 pm

I’ve started listening to Life to and am loving it. Keith Richards comes across as surprisingly thoughtful and down to earth. I think Johnny Depp is doing a great job reading it. Can’t wait for your thoughts Kathy!

  41. November 15, 2010 8:14 pm

Oh, good mailbox. I have a hard time with audio books. Since I listen to conference calls all day long, I tune out alot of things. I really want to read Freedom. Enjoy!

  42. November 15, 2010 9:29 pm

I am not a huge Stones fan, but I have to think Richards’ book will have some great stories to tell.
If he can remember any of them…

  43. November 16, 2010 7:48 am

Good books, I would love to read the LMA one.

Sorry I took my mail box down last night. Received three books. You might have seen the titles at some point or the other.

  44. November 16, 2010 2:52 pm

Great books this week! And I loved Heather’s bookmark, too – I forgot to mention it on my post! ARGH! Thanks, Heather!! Here’s my Mailbox: Coffee and a Book Chick — Mailbox Monday…

  45. November 16, 2010 8:07 pm

Life and Freedom … what wonderful wins!!!

  46. November 16, 2010 8:38 pm

Great stack of reads!!! Looking forward to your thoughts on Keith Richards!!! :D

  47. November 16, 2010 11:46 pm

I was so tempted to request ‘Life’ by Keith Richards but I knew I wouldn’t be able to read and review within a reasonable time. I hope you enjoy all of your books!

  48. November 17, 2010 11:02 am

You have the best luck! I’m reading Freedom now and am really enjoying it. I hope you like the audio version!

  49. November 18, 2010 12:46 pm

I’m interested ot hear what you have to say about “I Slept With Joey Ramone by Mickey Leigh with Legs McNeil”!

  50. November 18, 2010 9:20 pm

ooh, is that an audiobook of FREEDOM? I’ll be interested to know how you like it.

The Reisen LMA bio is fantastic, as is the new LMA from Susan Cheever. You know I can never get enough of my Little Women :)

  51. November 18, 2010 9:30 pm

I only JUST received The Corrections by Jonathan Frantzen through Goodreads bookswap! I know that reviews on THAT one were mixed, but I’ve heard that this new one is much better! Enjoy ALL of your reads and congrats on the great wins!

  52. November 18, 2010 10:11 pm

I heard Johnny Depp was the voice on the Keith Richards audio book. I think I would be torn to falling asleep from his soothing voice and staying awake to hear what’s going to happen next.

  53. November 19, 2010 1:11 pm

The Louisa May Alcott book looks good. I saw someone reading the Keith Richards book on the train the other day. Happy reading!
