Mailbox Monday
August 23, 2010
The perfect way to start a new week is with my favorite meme, Mailbox Monday – it kind of makes up for the weekend being over. Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia of The Printed Page and is now going on tour – the host for this month is Chick Loves Lit – click over there if you want to join in the fun or see who else is participating this week. This is what I found in my mailbox last week:
Monday
- Perfect Life by Jessica Shattuck came from W. W. Norton & Co.
- Heart with Joy by Steve Cushman came from Canterbury House Publishing
Friday
- Mulholland Books tote bag – it’s not too late to enter to win one of your very own!
- The World is Bigger Now by Euna Lee came from Broadway Books
- Sea Escape by Lynne Griffin was a win from Redlady’s Reading Room
- Life Without Summer by Lynne Griffin was a win from Redlady’s Reading Room
- West of Here by Jonathan Evison (in the wooden box on top) came from Algonquin
- How to be an American Housewife by Margaret Dilloway was a win from Diary of an Eccentric
- The Weight of Shadows by Alison Strobel was a win from Thoughts in Progress
- 6 copies of The Improper Life of Bezellia Grove by Susan Gregg Gilmore came from the author (I only included one in the photo) – I won these books, plus a homemade pound cake and a visit from the author in the Do the Write Thing for Nashville auction

Great week, Kathy. I’m so glad you got Dilloway’s book – I loved it! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Have a wonderful week in reading!
Enjoy your books! Can’t wait to read your review of the new Kittle novel you are reading now. I have a few of her other books on my shelf that I still need to read.
What can I say? I love everything in your mailbox. At first I thought you had a new mailbox. My eyes had landed on the tote. Great, enjoy!

I’m always amazed at how many books show up at your house every week. It is like Christmas every day for you.
I am so excited about Mulholland Books! I new there was a new imprint, but didn’t know the official name. Thanks for sharing! My mailbox is at The Crowded Leaf.
Oh my! Do you plan to read them all?
One of these days, I’m going to need a photo of your bookshelf. How do you keep all your books organzized? I was good before BEA, and now it looks like a librarian had a temper tantrum in my reading nook.
You have some great books there!
We just got back from being away…and I can’t wait to see the mailman this afternoon!
All those books AND a home made pound cake?!! Lucky you
You got a lot!
Have a great reading week ahead! Here is my Mondays: Mailbox/Where Am I/Musings post.
Wow! What a mailbox! You’re right, MM makes up for the fact that the weekend’s over.
This is a great Mailbox Monday — as always, very intriguing reads await you! I look forward to your thoughts on them!!
Holy guacomole! Now that is a MAILBOX! WOW!
Going back to look at the loot and slobbering while doing so
Great haul — I picture your mailbox as the size of my garage. And though I always enjoy hearing about your books, the pound cake has taken my envy to a whole new level.
Home made pound cake!! How nice! Great haul this week – happy reading!
You had a great week for wins! And pound cake, yum!
What a great stack. I’m jealous! Enjoy.
I had a pretty slow week and I’m still pouting about it! Love the boxed book!
Nice haul! Those sounds really good. Enjoy!
I am so glad it is you not me with all those books. My house is almost bursting at the seams as it is. I also received the Incredible Life of Benzellia Grove. I am enjoying reading this one. I am half done. It is a great southern read. It is sort of like Gone With The Wind meets To Kill A Mockingbird. You will see why I said that when you get into the characters and the town she lives in. I can’t wait to see your review. I am sure mine will go up in a few days. Have a great Monday Cathy,
Susan at Carolina Book Stacks
You always have the best mailbox! Enjoy all of the good books you received. I look forward to reading your reviews,
The Weight of Shadows is VERY good!!
I’ve been wanting to get Sea Escape and The Improper Life of Bezellia Grove.

Pound cake?! That’s the best Mailbox ever! Enjoy!
You must have done a happy dance or two…they all sound really worth reading…especially the Lynne Griffin one and the Susan Gregg Gilmore one…actually they all seem good. Enjoy…

Hope you enjoy them,
Have a great week,
Natalie :0)
Wow! Enjoy your books. Here’s what I received.
I read Lisa and Laura Ling’s memoir about the girls’ captivity in N. Korea – it would be interesting to hear Euna Lee’s perspective.
Enjoy your books!
Looks like you got some great books plus your new tote will be great for hauling around books!
Pound cake! I am so jealous! Bezellia Grove is on my wish list. When I do read it I’ll be sure to pick up some pound cake to go with it! What a great prize package with a visit too! You are a lucky lady!
Great books. Come over and check out what came in my mailbox.
i love the tote bag! i am off to enter the contest. happy reading.
With the exception of American Housewife, all of those books are new to me. What a great auction score! Will you be posting about your visit with the author? Thanks for stopping by my Mailbox!
I’ve seen SO MUCH about Sea Escape, and only now do I realize she wrote LIFE WITHOUT SUMMER. I reviewed that one a while back. I really enjoyed it (despite the subject of the loss of a child).
That would overwhelm me! I haven’t had nearly enough time to read lately.
wow what a great week for you!
i hope you enjoy all of your books and the tote bag too!
Cute pic and bag. You have some wonderful new books. Happy reading.
Oh God, I feel envious! SO many wins! This, I am sure is going to be a great week for you
That’s a very prolific mailbox you’ve got there!
I read Perfect Life a while ago and really enjoyed it. Happy reading!

Fabulous mailbox. I’ve wanted to read How to Be an American Housewife.
I’m interested to see what you think of How to Be An American Housewife. I read the book not too long ago…
Great bunch of books. I’m a little jealous of the wooden box that the book came in, it’s wonderful.
So glad to hear you got the book! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Happy reading!
