Mailbox Monday
April 26, 2010
I admit it – I’m nosy and love seeing what everyone found in their mailboxes last week. That’s why Mailbox Monday is one of my favorite memes – a big thanks to Marcia of The Printed Page for hosting it. Head on over to Marcia’s blog to see what everyone else got last week or to join in the fun. These are the books that came into my house last week:
Tuesday
- The Frozen Rabbi by Steve Stern came from Algonquin Books
Wednesday
- Bloodroot by Amy Greene was a win from Glue and came from Alfred A. Knopf
- The Crossing Places by Elly Griffiths was a win from Glue and came from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
Friday
- Take Good Care of the Garden and the Dogs by Heather Lende came from Algonquin Books
- Mothers & Other Liars by Amy Bourret was a win from St. Martin’s Press
- Finny by Justin Kramon came from the author
- A Homemade Life by Molly Wizenberg was a win from Bookin’ with Bingo
- The Crazy School by Cornelia Read was a win from A Sea of Books
Saturday
- Virginia Tech Home Sweet Home Recipe Contest 2009 Cookbook came from Virginia Tech

Not in my mailbox exactly, but I did very well at the semi-annual library book sale:

I have Bloodroot on my shelf and hope to get to it soon. It looks amazing!
Bloodroot was good Kathy. I have the Frozen Rabbi as well; enjoy them all.
Bloodroot received such a wonderful review from EW, and I’ve had it on my list for awhile. I’ve been waiting to see some of you all review it. I may have to cave and buy it!
Sandy and I obviously get our reviews from EW because I’ve been dying to read BLOODROOT ever since seeing it in that magazine as well! Nice stash!
Kathy, I hope you like THE CROSSING PLACES. It’s one of my top reads for this year. You got some other ones that look interesting.
Great books as always! As a person always on the prowl for new recipes the Virginia Tech cookbook sounds terrific!
Nice mailbox list. I’ll bet the VT cookbook is wonderful!
Great week and look at all those wins! Hope your lucky streak continues.
Another great week for you, and a lot of wins too! Enjoy your books.
I haven’t seen any of these books before, they do look good. I am still waiting for one more parcel to turn up.
Wanna read Bloodroot. You received interesting books!

Kathy you had another great week. Look at those wins. You have been on a lucky streak lately. I will have to make it a point to steal some of that lucky streak when we meet up. (Hey this time next month we will just be leaving the author breakfast
)
Oh, I like the look of several of those books. Crazy School is one I’ve seen around…intriguing. Also, Mothers and Other Liars.
Have a great week, and thanks for dropping by my blog.

Wow! That’s quite a mailbox, Kathy. I got a couple of new books last week, but I didn’t do Mailbox Monday today (one of my favorite memes, too) because I have an author interview and book giveaway for The Little Giant of Aberdeen County on my blog right now.
The Frozen Rabbi is a great title for a book! May you enjoy them all
I’ve had my eye on Mothers & Other Liars around the blogosphere — the title is very attention-grabbing!
Hope you enjoy all of them!
I’ll be interested to see what you think of The Crossing Places.
I’m very interested to hear what you think about “The Frozen Rabbi,” because I have been interested in that one myself.
Bloodroot was fantastic. It’s one of those books that stays with you long after you finish reading. Love your stack of books!
Wow, lots of new to me books.. Enjoy!
Girlfriend … you certainly received a lot of great books. Does your mailman/woman ever deliver your take in a wheelbarrow? LOL!
I love being nosy too! Sadly, I received no new books in my mailbox last week! Then again, given how far behind I am in my reading, that is probably a good thing!
What wonderful books!!! I also won The Crossing Places! What a fun and exciting surprise that was. It sounds so good, I can’t wait to read it!! I really really want to read The Crazy School!
Enjoy all of your great goodies and have a great week!
They all look fantastic…You will so love Homemade Life.one of my faves for last year!
I LOVED Crazy School! I always enjoy your Mailbox Monday because I get to meet so many new people and sites… just chcked out Glue- very cool! I just signed up and am exploring now, thanks for turning me on to it!
Jenna
Congrats on all your wins! Looks like another great stack of new books
I do love seeing those stacks of books…I love piles and piles of books everywhere…
I really want to read Bloodroot. I’m on the waiting list for it at my library. Happy reading!
As usual, a very nice collection. Happy reading
Lots of good stuff. Bloodroot looks really good especially!
I was immediately drawn to the recipe book. I love cookbooks and recipe books, and yet, ironically, I hardly ever try new recipes from them.
I also love to see what others are reading! I have also won The Crazy School and am awaiting it. The others are all new to me but it looks a good mix and a nice pile to have around.
Cornelia Read sounds familiar for some reason but I can’t place why I recognize her name.
Enjoy your books. Thank you for stopping by.
I have an Amy Bloom collection of short stories on my bedside stand. Love the list here!
oh, wow you had a great mailbox! Enjoy!
As usual, you have a great-looking stack! I have The Angel of Forgetfulness by Stern but haven’t read it yet. Looking forward to your thoughts on his newest book. A Homemade Life has been on my TBR list forever.
Happy reading!
What a nice pile! I got The Crossing Places from Glue as well. I’m looking forward to reading it and several mysteries over the summer!
A Homemade Life was really good. I think you’ll enjoy it!
What a great stack. Enjoy!
You have an awesome bunch there. The VT book caught my eye!
wow, love all the books, great week for the mailbox
The Crossing Places is an excellent mystery and the start of a great new series. Book two has just come out.
The memoir TAKE GOOD CARE OF THE GARDEN AND THE DOGS looks great!
Enjoy …
I have to ask – how many pages is Frozen Rabbi? I’m reading it in installments from Tablet Magazine, but your picture makes me think it’s quite a thick book and it’s be nice to have an idea how long it is.
Bloodroot sounds very good! You’ve got a full mailbox, Kathy! Here’s to a wonderful reading month in May.
