Thanks to Marcia of The Printed Page for hosting this fun meme! Head over to her blog if you want to see what everyone else got last week. I would have read more than I brought in last week, if I hadn’t indulged in Buy Indie Day on Friday, but who can resist a good excuse to buy books? Here’s what I got last week:
Monday
- SLOB by Ellen Potter from the author
Tuesday
- Water, Stone, Heart by Will North from Read It Forward via Twitter
Saturday
- Darling Jim by Christian Moerk from Henry Holt
(During Friday’s visit to our local independent bookstore, I bought The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, Strawberry Fields by Marina Lewycka and Bless Your Heart, Tramp by Celia Rivenbark.)
What books came into your home last week?

The book thief is fantastic and I’ve heard a lot about Speak. Darling Jim looks great too. As always I hope you enjoy all the books Kathy.
I loved SLOB and I think you will like it too! And I got Darling Jim as well. Looks terrific!
DARLING JIM keeps bleeping on my radar – think I’ll have to hunt down a copy soon. Looking forward to hearing what you think of it.
I really need to keep track of which books I receive. This looks like a fun meme!
I can’t wait to get Water, Stone, Heart, you’re lucky to have won a copy!! The Book Thief is powerful and amazing. I hope that you like it. My goal is to get started on Twitter this week…I’ll be the newbie trying to figure it out!
I’ve been dying to read The Book Thief, but I haven’t found a copy nearby
, but I read Artemis Fowl instead (read my review here). Have a good time with your loot.
Only one book in common last week Kathy and that was Water, Stone, Heart. I bought Speak a week or two ago. Looking forward to your reviews on Water, Stone Heart.

These all sound like great books. I also have a copy of Strawberry Fields at home, but just haven’t had a chance to read it yet.
I have to agree with the other commenters who love the cover of Water, Stone, Heart. I love the colors and the greenery against the brick.
Yes – the cover of Water, Stone, Heart is beautiful. I’ve wanted to read The Book Thief for quite a while. It is on my wish list – hope you love it Kathy!!

So many good books! I need to get back to The Book Thief again and I thought I was the only person left who hasn’t read Speak. Enjoy all of your new goodies. I look forward to your reviews. Have a great week!
great books! I have some books to report too.. but I haven’t found the time. Shucks.. My book club is reading The Book Thief as our May selection.
I have Darling Jim as well and of course am looking forward to reading it, eventually!
I want to read Darling Jim! (I lost out on a giveaway this week) I’ll be watching for your review – and for one of the North book.
Sounds like some great books you added to your collection and of course I adored Speak and The Book Thief…enjoy!!
I think I’m going to have to reread Slob. It’s such a fun book. I got Darling Jim, Evolution: The Grand Experiment, Vol 1 (I’ve read Vol. 2 and enjoyed it), A Girl’s Guide to Modern European Philosophy and Book Nook Les’ hubby’s book, The Annotated Sailing Alone Around the World by Joshua Slocum (I’m in the acknowledgments in that one!). I got The Graveyard Book and Dark Star for Buy Indie Day. Now, I need to learn to speed read.
I hope you like The Book Thief as much as I did. It took me a couple of chapters to get into the story, and then I was hooked. I didn’t want it to end. Enjoy your new books!
