Mailbox Monday
March 9, 2009
Thanks to Marcia of The Printed Page for hosting Mailbox Mondays. Head over to her blog to see what everyone else got last week. I had another great week in books. These are the books I got:
Monday
- Why GM Matters by William J. Holstein from Bloomsbury
Tuesday
- Outcasts United by Warren St. John from Spiegel & Grau – this was a Library Thing Early Reviewers bonus book
- Life Sentences by Laura Lippman from William Morrow
Thursday
- The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein from Harper Collins
- an autographed copy of The Wisdom of Yawdy Rum by Micheal Lane from Words to Mouth – yes, I spelled the author’s first name right
- Secret Daughter by June Cross from Paula at Author Marketing Experts
Friday
- The Red Leather Diary by Lily Koppel from Harper Collins

Nice haul!
I don’t ever question anyone’s spelling of a name. In kindergarten, my youngest had a classmate who spelled “Stephanie”, “Stfephanie”. Where her parents came up with the “f” is beyond my! (I always figured they just didn’t know how to spell it correctly, so…..)
Good haul! I’m reading the Lippman book now, I’ve just started it, but its good so far.
Nice stack! The Red Leather Diary was great.
That’s quite a stash! You’re going to love THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN. We meet on Thursday to discuss it!
I can’t wait to hear your review of Art of Racing in the Rain so I can read it vicariously! :–)
I can’t wait to see what you think of The Art of Racing in the Rain and The Red Leather Diary!

Looks like you had a pretty good week Kathy. Working on posting mine now. Mine was a quiet week.
What a great stack! Happy reading!
You’ve got some great titles there, Kathy. I look forward to reading your thoughts on Outcasts United when you get to it.
Good ones!
Here is my mailbox.
Wow. I’m impressed. There’s a lot of good stuff in your pile.
I hope you enjoy your books! I liked The Art of Racing in the Rain. I’m trying not to be jealous that you got the Red Leather Diary.
You had a great week. Can’t wait to see what you think of these.
I am working on a review for The Secret Daughter. That was a really good one. Interesting not only because of the subject matter, but also because of the history. I learned a lot of things I hadn’t know before.
I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of Life Sentences! …what am I talking about??? I’ve got plenty of books in this house to read!
You had a great week! I’m eager to hear your thoughts about The Art of Racing in the Rain.
Looks like a lot of great books Kathy. I look forward to the reviews.

Looks like you have a lot of reading to do!
The Wisdom of Yawdy Rum sounds like a good book. I can’t wait to start Life Sentences!
Oh, I envy you the Lippman!
You have a nice variety!
I got a ton of stuff from one blogger and another blogger sent me The Sleeping Beauty Proposal. Hope you enjoy your new reads!
nice stash. i really want The Red Leather Diary.
Can’t wait for your review
I was a bad girl and requested the Lippman. I just couldn’t resist since I loved What the Dead Know so much…
Oh! Great haul
Life Sentences found its way on my wishlist…

I see a few in your stack that look good – as well as the one you have listed as ‘currently reading’. I saw Galway Bay in a bookstore last Friday and was very tempted but didn’t in the end buy it. I’ll be interested to know what you think of it.
What a terrific batch of books you snagged!
Great treasures. I found The Red Leather Diary at a used book library sale recently and can’t wait to read it–I have read great reviews of it so far.
*smiles*

Laura Lippman is a favourite of mine – I never bother with what it’s about – I know I’ll enjoy it!
Wow! Lots of goodies! I loved The Art of Racing In The Rain. I got to do an online bookclub with the author and his wife and it was great! It’s so fascinating to hear how an author creates their stories. Enjoy!
I’ve only been able to read one book by Laura Lippman due to the lack of time, but it was a really good one!
A great haul, Kathy! The Red Leather Diary is already on my wish list, but now I’m curious about Secret Daughter too.
Thank you for stopping by the mailbox this week. Let me know if you want ‘The Scarecrow’ when I’m done. If so, it’s yours.
