6 Things That Make Me Happy

February 6, 2009

happy-faceJulie of Booking Mama tagged me for a fun meme.  I’m supposed to write down six things that make me happy.  It was actually hard for me to narrow my list down to 6, but I weeded out those things that would show just what a huge nerd I am.  (For example, gas heat – when we moved last time I wouldn’t look at a house unless it had gas heat.  I love our gas heat.)

  1. My family and friends -  I hate to brag, but I have the best hubby in the world.
  2. Warm weather and sunshine – it has to get really hot before I complain.
  3. Our dog, Milou – I can go out to get the mail and when I come back she’ll greet me like she hasn’t seen me in five years.  That really makes me feel good.
  4. My to be read pile – I know some people stress over their TBR piles, but I love knowing that I have a stack of books to choose from when I finish my current read.
  5. Cable internet – Of course, there are days when this makes me really mad, but overall, I would not want to go back to dial-up.
  6. The book blogging community – I’m thrilled that I actually got to meet a few members in person, too!

I’m supposed to tag 6 people – so if you want to play along, consider yourself tagged.

100% with you on warm weather. I love heat. And I really want a dog that is so affectionate!

I wish I could see my TBR pile in that way, I think I will once I have it all in one spot and don’t have to worry about moving it again (at least for a few years).

I love how you look at #4.

Great list. I love my TBR pile but if I let too much time pass between me adding a book to it, and me actually reading it, then I forget how jazzed I was about the book in the first place. In other words, there is always another book that sounds better.

I am a cat person as evidenced by my one (and only) failed dog ownership experience but I love hearing about little Milou. Is it Mee-Lu? Or My-Lo?

Nice list – I like that family & friends is your #1. They would be mine, too.

I love your answers! Especially #4. Sometimes my trb pile does stress me out, but other times I just love thinking of all the possibilities, of all the great reading I have ahead of me.

I especially love your comments about the TBR stacks and Milou. My cat often meets me at the door. I know a lot of people think cats are too independent and antisocial, but not mine. Our other cat, Sunshine (she may have died before you started visiting my blog — in July of 2007) was really dog-like in her devotion and pure joy at having buddies. It’s such a wonderful feeling to have that affection, isn’t it? I love my TBRs, too. Sometimes I feel like I read too slowly, but it’s so nice to have such pretty stacks.

Great happy things. There’s nothing better than how happy your dog is when you come home. It’s like no one else exists in the world and then all those kisses-it’s the best!

Ah, I really like your number 1, that’s so nice. And sunshine and warm weather – yep – though I can’t really remember what warm weather feels like.

It’s always a happy thing to hear about a couple’s happiness. That rocks.

    Great answers!!!

Excellent list. I am comforted by a big stack of books too!

My list is very similar to yours, except for the warm weather & sunshine (and exchange Milou for a cat named Dexter!). I think of my TBR the same way – it’s one of the things I really love about book blogging. I’m never short of things to read!

Great list!! My TBR makes me happy too.

Kathy I am sorry didn’t see this meme until today I tagged you again.

I love your list. I agree with you on it all. Friends and family are the best. I too have been lucky to meet some book bloggers. Aren’t they the best?

You listed such wonderful things Kathy! I enjoy my tbr pile as well – I love the variety it allows me to have, and you certainly can’t do much better than good relatives, friends and pets who are more like family!
