Mailbox Monday

January 12, 2009

mailbox-mondayMailbox Mondays are hosted by Marcia of The Printed Page.   Check out her blog to see what everyone else got last week.  I had another slow week in books, but I’m trying to adopt a positive attitude and be thankful for my chance to work on my to-be-read pile.  These are the books that I received last week:

I started this meme this week!

  2. January 12, 2009 7:14 am

I haven’t heard of A Reliable Wife, but it sounds good. Thanks for putting this one on my radar!

  3. January 12, 2009 7:56 am

I seem to have brought only one book into my home in the last several weeks! How can this be….where did they go?
But then I also seemed to have done little reading in the last few weeks…so perhaps the books knew this and stayed away.
Well, books, I am back on track, so come on over!

  4. January 12, 2009 8:23 am

That is a slow week for you, I had one too but I’m glad no ARCs came. That first one looks interesting. Don’t worry Kathy, it’ll pick up again.

Say You’re One of Them looks like a good read. I look forward to your review.

Hi, Kathy! You have received an award at my blog. Pass it on if you like, or just bask in the love! :-)

Well, only two books is better than none! I find the title of “The Reliable Wife” very intriguing and will check it out for more info! : )

You really are having a dry spell! Hopefully it’s allowed you to catch up a bit on the books you already had!

  10. January 12, 2009 9:34 am

I hope you enjoy them both! I was good this week and got no books :P

  11. January 12, 2009 9:53 am

You had a slow week! Here’s to tons of books this week.

  12. January 12, 2009 11:10 am

I don’t get many ARCs. 6-8 a month or even less. Last two weeks I got only two. No Indian author/publisher is ready to send and US authors do send but not all. I am pretty happy with what I get.

    A Reliable Wife sounds good.

  13. January 12, 2009 11:12 am

A slow one for me too!

    But that’s ok, I think!

  14. January 12, 2009 11:46 am

I have gotten so far behind that I am thankful for a slow week for books! Sad, isn’t it?

  15. January 12, 2009 12:21 pm

I got Say You’re One of Them months ago – I really need to read it! Thanks for the reminder :)

  16. January 12, 2009 12:45 pm

Say You’re One of them does sound really good. I hope you enjoy it!!

It’s kind of hard to get used to NOT receiving a ton of books every week. But for me it was a good thing since I was getting SO far behind (and still am, actually!)

You’ve won an award! Come see.

I got Silence (My LT-ER book) and School of Essential Ingredients. I’m happy with 1-2 per week because it gives me a chance to work on my library stack.

I have Say You’re One of Them on my TBR list for this year.

  26. January 12, 2009 6:12 pm

Thanks for commenting on my daughter in law. (I never know where to comment back… a dilemna I have )
She is very smart…mostly for marrying my son. LOL
I don’t know that they give a reading to week to all programs, but her program at Yale, they do. Another interesting thing they do is that they don’t grade A,B,C… becauset that grading system was invented by Harvard. Rivalry is rampant.

Kathy – A Reliable Wife sounds very interesting – I can’t wait to see what happens with the plot!!

Haven’t heard of either of these. Hope you enjoy!

  32. January 14, 2009 2:27 pm

I haven’t heard of these, so I’m especially looking forward to your thoughts. Happy reading!

  33. January 15, 2009 7:50 am

Both of those sound interesting. I don’t think I’ll be posting anything for MM next week unless something shows up tomorrow. It is always sad not to get any books in the mail, even though I already have enough to keep me busy for a few years! Happy reading!

  34. January 16, 2009 4:01 pm

Thanks for stopping by the ‘mailbox’ this week. I’m sure things will be picking up soon. There never seems to be a shortage of books for long.
