Tuesday Thingers
Tuesday Thingers are hosted by Marie over at The Boston Bibliophile and here’s her question for today:
Popular this month on LT: Do you look at this list? Do you get ideas on what to read from it?
Have you read any of the books on the list right now? Feel free to link to any reviews you’ve done as well.
Here’s the current list:
1. The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
2. Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World by Vicki Myron
3. Nation by Terry Pratchett
4. Brisingr by Christopher Paolini
5. Anathem by Neal Stephenson
6. American Wife: A Novel by Curtis Sittenfeld
7. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer
8. The Story of Edgar Sawtelle: A Novel by David Wroblewski
9. Any Given Doomsday by Lori Handeland
10. Eclipse (The Twilight Saga, Book 3) by Stephenie Meyer
I’ve actually read and reviewed 2 of the books on the list this month – Dewey and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Sociey. I don’t have any of the other books and have no plans to get them, either. I enjoy looking at the list from time to time, (much like I enjoy looking at the NY Times best seller list) but don’t really get ideas from it. I usually get my ideas from bloggers I’ve come to respect.

Thanks to everyone for the warm birthday wishes yesterday! They mean more than you’ll ever know.

Oh! Happy belated birthday!
I’m really hoping I get “Guernsey and the Literary . . .” for Christmas! Sometimes I get nervous that after everyone else likes a book so much, I won’t be very fond of it myself. But I don’t think that will be the case with this one!
Oops! I meant to say “Guernsey Literary . . .”, hehe
I’ve only read two of the titles, too. “Dewey” is one I’m thinking of putting on my TBR list – I’ll have to take a look at your review.
I have heard such good things about ‘Guernsey’ that I am almost afraid to read it…and be the only person that hates it…lol
Hope you had a great birthday Kathy! I was sending birthday wishes your way!!
Dewey looks cute, and I’ve got Guernsey on my wish list. . . . .

I’ve read “Guernsey . . .” and loved it, and I just ordered “The Story of Edgar Sawtelle” and can’t wait to read it. I also have heard that “The American Wife” is good, but as for the others I don’t have any plans of reading them. BTW, Happy Belated Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Kathy! Like you, I tend to be curious enough to take a look at lists like these, but I seldom (if ever) find anything to read from them.
I have read Guernsey, and own Dewey but haven’t read it yet.
I like keeping an eye on the lists also, just to see how they change, but they have no impact on what I choose to read. I prefer personal recommendations from friends, family and of course bloggers.
Oh, I missed your Birthday post yesterday!

I hope to get a copy of Guernsey soon! I have such great things about it.
I’m glad I’d read and reviewed two on this list. Sometimes there’s nothing on the list that appeals to me. I’m very narrow in what I read, I know. And I won a copy of Dewey, just can’t remember where at the moment. So thank you for trying to help me get one. I think I tried six ways to Sunday to get one and I finally did. My post is up late but it’s up.
I haven’t read anything on the list this month, although I own 3 of them (2- *Edgar Sawtelle* and *Dewey* I won in giveaways, 1- *American Wife* is an ARC that I’m WAY behind on!)
I so want to read *Guernsey* … I’m dropping heavy hints to Santa and his elves
I read the NYT lists, too. To compare against my own reading habits more than to get ideas (like you, I pick up book titles from review blogs)
Kathy, I remembered that you had reviewed Dewey but forgot you had read Guernsey. I’m looking forward to reading it and thinking about making it my contribution to our book club Christmas exchange.
